Default GoPro or Sony

With what we do on the boats and other action sports, any feedback on the Sony?

I know a LOT of folks have Go-Pros, but take a few minutes to watch this video and tell me what you see in the video quality difference, especially colors:

(You don't have to watch the whole thing, just skip ahead to a few of the different video subjects.)

I have to spend 40K AMEX points in the next 2 days; use or loose.
The Sony Action Cam is cheaper (both in points and retail pricing).
The GoPro Hero3 is more expensive.

After watching the above and other comparison videos on YouTube... why?

Brian,

Check out this link. It's a good comparison of the gopro hero 3, the drift ghost, the contour 2, and the sony action cam.

regardless of this guys conclusion, I did receive 2 ghosts which I wanted for xmas and they are pretty cool. Some of the features beat out the others for how I use them. I did the firmware update and i'm able to control them with my iphone and I programmed 1 remote to control both cameras which is nice. Hopefully that will mean I won't miss out on starting my cameras after spending all the time setting them up, etc. like I did on the JOTJ run.

Do any of these cameras have the ability to use an external mic?
Blutooth or hard wired?

I think they`re all pretty close...choose the one you have the points for.

Trying to come up with ways to test/play with the Drift ghost cam I got for xmas. It's not too exciting but I got to test the remote, new suction mount a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder why this one never get included in the tests. Seems like its a good set for boating you can film bow and the roost at the same time, or cockpit, etc

i have the gopro 2 its great, ithink the 3 has the same mounting case
and the important part is the CLAMP that holds it steady
on mine i bought the adapter piece that adapts the gopro to the rest of photo-riggings world
its a 1/4 inch threaded thing and allows you to use REALLY BETTER clamps and suction cups and extendo-arms
