Where to stay in Miami for the boat show?

I want to fly in from Lax Friday morning and stay till Wednesday or Thursday, me and my wife never been to Miami. Should we stay in South Beach or somewhere else since we will be staying after the show and want to do and see what? If we stay by the airport how much are cab rides going to be or should we stay in another city? I am hoping that I can get rooms for $200 a night? Frank

You will not find rooms in south beach for 200 a night, we just book the weekend of boat show and paid 450 a night and most hotels were booked. No slow down in the economy in South Beach

We Are on S.B for $189 a night. I dont expect much but a clean bed and am hardly in my room so this is good for me.

But yea. Usually most rooms are around $400 a night and you dont get a lot at that price.

Most rooms are already sold out. I managed to get a room at San Juan Hotel (which is at 16th and Collins) for around $160/ night. Not expecting it to be the nicest place, but its the perfect location and we won't be there but a few hours each night to sleep. Too much to do and see! Can't wait.

You are right on the cost for Fri/Sat night but they seem to drop down to 150 to 200 a night for the rest of the week.......so my in question is what are nicer SB hotels that will be around 150 to 200 a night after the show? Also since I will be there during the week after the show is there a nicer area to stay than SB to see other sites and just cab into the show if cabs are not to much? Frank

Some of the South beach art decos are really run down. Right now I think the Biscayne bay Mariott is the best deal, Its completely remodeled and the host show hotel. You can cab or bus to So Beach. Ive decided Loews is the best in So Beach.......But $$$$

Stay in south beach. The area by the airport will get you mugged. South beach is not cheap but you will have the most fun for Miami
