Hey Tony....

If you are interested in getting into racing, you may want to post in the racers forum or contact any of the associations that support P class racing. ie: OPA, SBI/APBA or Blue Water racing association in the great lakes.

my advice to you....is do not make your boat capable of 100 MPH. if you do, you will be put in a class where you are competeing against 38 foot canopied boats in rough water. You will have trouble competing there, and you will be beating yourself and your boat up trying. P class racing is based on speed brackets. A 27 foot Magnum would best fit in P-5, which is max avg lap speed of 65 or P-4 which is max avg speed of 75. you boat should be capable of 7 to 10 mph more than the AVG lap speed. P-5 class is limited to single engine up to 28 feet. Your boat would do best in that class.

A person may want to start out in SLT super light tunnel inflatable they will chug along 60 mph. plus on a 40 hp with a good prop 2 up under 15k for boat motor trailer and gear, we hope to have two teams for Seawolf in the spring I hope we can do some off shore beach to beach racing like they do in SA. and the UK. check it out on the APPA website, lotsa fun

ditto to what Bruce said.......that boat would fit in in P4 or P5.....heck if you come to P3, we'd give you a run for your money :D ...but definitely come out and join us :evilb:

I'm with mrhorsepower1 super v & super cat when they where faster than production boats. I know it helps cost & all that but a real racer will spend what it takes to win. The haves will always have an advantage on the have nots. Also the Apache video from back in the day when the races where truly offshore & 40-50 v's where a must to survive & the bravest of the brave ventured out in cats. That was racing. My thoughts is stop trying to be Nascar & start being offshore again.
