Favorite offshore boat racing class?

For everyone that enjoys watching offshore racing either on tv or in person. What's your favorite class to watch?

blackhawk 07-18-2002 11:55 PM

I love watching the Factory 1 races with Factory 2 a close second. There's just something about watching those "little" Factory 1 boats out there tearing up the big water. :D

BODYSHOT1 07-18-2002 11:59 PM

I like the V-classes...Factory 1 & 2 ..and the P-class boats...

F2-34thrttleman 07-19-2002 12:00 AM

i like factory one and factory two, along with supercat light inboard, tat is where the REAL raing is.

gmhdfan 07-19-2002 12:03 AM

It wouldn't let me vote, said session was invalid  Put me down for Super Vee. F2 and Super cat are right up there. And all the other classes are a bonus to watch:) I miss the old days when all The Apache's with BIG power were racing.:)

Reindl Powerboats 07-19-2002 12:33 AM

One Design

How about putting up One Design. Where all the boats are equal and they can run over or through anything.

gmhdfan 07-19-2002 12:33 AM

Here are some pictures of the old days in Key West. (sometime in the late 80's-early90's)community.webtv.net/absolutetowing/VintageRaceBoatPics It may take a little to down load but its worth the trip down memory lane.:)

Dave M 07-19-2002 08:02 AM

I like F1. I have a relatively small single engine boat so there is a similarity.

Jana 07-19-2002 08:06 AM

F2 and F1. The competition is great. I like the big Vees and cats too, but mostly for the speeds they hit.

BatGirl 07-19-2002 08:23 AM

Hey, What about Bat Babe's in Bat Boats??:p
We are out there in a 24ft boat kickin butt, passing alot of the others!!

audacity 07-19-2002 08:25 AM

Offshore Addiction 07-19-2002 08:42 AM

Factory 1 is full of excitement- on and off the course - that is where the competition is- in Factory 1- Dont forget about the Dog Pound hosted by Typhoon....

26scarab 07-19-2002 08:46 AM

My favorite classes aren't even on there !

I liked the old "A", "B" and Super Vee (with superchargers) classes :D

The UIM Class 1 stuff is real cool too !

PANTERA LOVER 07-19-2002 09:14 AM

Boat Girl 07-19-2002 01:36 PM

Looking at your OLD pictures I see myself in the Team Jaguar, it was 1990. Plenty of boats back then! Long laps and big seas! Thanks for the BLAST from the past! Rick Conti #4 TEAM JAGUAR

DanB 07-19-2002 06:08 PM

F1....all the way!!! The closest hardest battles on the water. Drivers and T-men are hardcore!!!!!
F2 a real close second, but my all time fav was "A" when it was around

Dan

TYPHOON 07-20-2002 09:24 AM

F1 rules the seas:p I have only raced F1 but I dont think it gets any more competitive than this. You need to be in it to really beleave what we all do to our selves out there.Im glad so many of you like watching our class,we love putting on a show!
Always looking for more boats in F1 so step up or down .F1 has the best bunch of friends and hospitality out of all the classes.

You guys were flying!!! I am going to try to make it to the Cleveland race. Maybe you could take me for a ride, maybe even let me drive? :D

The only thing thats planned is us winning!;)

blueamerican 07-22-2002 07:27 PM

Voting

Has anyone figured out why some of us can't vote? We can post all we want, but can't vote!! Whats up with that?

Mark in So. MD 07-22-2002 10:21 PM

F1 is definetly competive and exciting. I like that they all run the same motors so that boat design and how it is driven determinds the winner, but I also like the 100mph speed with the HP500s so I like to watch ZippExpress, Lube Jobs etc.....

RumRunner 07-22-2002 10:33 PM

From someone who's not a huge F-2 fan, I can honestly say that the Savannah race was some of the best racing I've ever seen !! Anywhere, Anyclass !!!

No, THANK YOU for the memorys!! It was all you guys that were putting on the greatest show on earth. That was the end of an era for Offshore Racing. Don Johson showed up and everything went to SH!T. OPT started and things were never the same again. I can remember walkng around the wet pits in those days and it was like heaven to a motor head like me. Everyone was trying to build a better mouse trap. BIG blower motors, Lamborgini motors, I think I even remember someone running fuel injection Buick motors. And as T2x said even Fabio Buzzi running his winged wonder:D THAT was Offshore Racing at its best. Yes long laps and big seas seperated the men from the boys. I spent alot of time bobbing out in the ocean watching offshore racing in those days. Those long laps gave you time to have some cocktails while waiting for the boats to come back past. It didn't really hit me until I went to the NYC Poker Run and walked around the docks looking at all the different hardware and it reminded me of the old days. You go to a race now adays and with everyone running the same hardware it takes something away from the eye candy factor. But I guess thats progress:confused: So Rick stop lurking and start posting. It's guys like you that lived the sport that makes this board so great. Tell us what it was like driving a Jaguar back then, tell us what kind of power you were running. What kind of speeds you were running. Sure was a good cast of characters running around in those days. Tom Gentry, Al Copeland, Joe Mach, Smitty, Charles Marks, Pete Markey, John D'Elia, a young John Tomlinson, John Gehrit (my favorite INXS) and the list goes on..... and those movie star guys Don Johnson, Kurt Russel, Chuck Norris. I just hope 15 years from now my memorys of todays Offshore Racing will be as good.

TYPHOON 07-23-2002 09:37 PM

Sorry I missed all that but it was before I new they even raced boats. Must have been one hell of a show.

LS,
I agree, that looks like the year Hyperactive stuffed and nearly disintegrated. By the way, how did you come across a thread that was three years old?

SUpercat UNlimited is pretty awesome and diverse. A 40' platinum winning on sunday, Quad engined 46 skater, open of a kind (for now) 50 Callan, an Apache cat and another skater. Was defiently the class that got the most adrenaline flowing.
