Barring any unforeseen mechanical or travel (flight delay) issues, Jason Johnson and I should get to spend some time on this boat and have a "first-impression" story live by Feb. 14. Looking forward to it.

Given all the past discussions about LS-based engines, I'm surpised there has not been a lot more comments on this announcement. There were a lot of strong opinions over the last year...

People will find that there has been a lot more R&D sunk into the Ilmor 570 than meets the eye...

Even MORE interesting will be the comparison of this boat's performance numbers to the 565-powered 353 that's been traveling the boat show circuit. Hopefully, the two boats are rigged the same.

I think people are just waiting for the results, it has been a year in the making. I think its great and a move in the right direction. Ilmor has to see this as an inroads to mercs core business.(Other already developed Imor engines packaged with Imco scx/sc drives.) I think hooking up with Imco for drives is also a smart choice. The 570 with scx/sc should be a very strong and trouble free combo. I'd like to see a OL sv29 or tuff 28 with this setup should be a 100mph small block v hull.

That will never happen.. Formula is very strict on the power to size/weight ratio.
