jaxon 03-04-2013 06:58 PM

oh, ok can i email a pic of this boat to someone and ley me know if it would be a good investment?

kaama377 03-04-2013 08:42 PM

Well you just used "boat" and "invesment" in the same sentence. You must be new to boating.

yea, i i get it ive only been boating about three years, but ive broke even, if not made a lil on my few boats, i had a pontoon that i doubled my money on and i made about 500 off a seadoo and about 400 off an old glastron. tat leaves me spending all the profit on gas, but way more. this time ive found what i think could be an awesome lil jewel that i can keep, i dont want to poke around to much and get the owner wanting more for it so i dont know what year it is, but it is a scarab 30ft. twin 454 needs restored, but outdrives look good, hull is in great shape. i believe it a 79 scarab 300 that says scarab racing 83 on the side of it. so who can i send a picture to

jaxon 03-05-2013 04:11 PM

is it safe to put email address on here? prob not if im asking aye

the picture is not showing up, what did you think about it, i checked it out and its pretty solid, i was wondering if those decals give you any information about the boats history, or is it just another boat with a racing paint job?

Make sure you check the transom and stringers/floor so you know what you are getting into... a boat sitting outside without a cover for a long time can be trouble.

Looks like a cool hull!

Also looks like a junk yard for R2D2 in the background.

Dean

jaxon 03-18-2013 10:02 PM

So if its solid, do you think its 3 grand? He has a trailer and 2 low hour 454' s for $3500 making it $6500 for everything. I'm thinking of trading a camper and a mustang for all

Powerquest_Baby!! 03-19-2013 01:01 AM

Thats a great looking scarab! Agree that you really need to check floor, stringers and transom. The boat and engines for $6500 sounds decent but do you need drives, transom assemblies? Trailer? How is the interior? Does it need new vinyl? Gauges? How is the cabin? I hope you see what Im getting at. You can easily be into this boat $15000+ I just hope you are prepared to spend some money. I love older scarabs but you are almost always better off finding one that is complete and ready to go. Trying to put one back together will be an expensive task (especially if you have to redo the stringers, transom and floor).

Has it really been 6 years since that Nova was licensed or are those old pics?? Usually a red flag.
Left outside and uncovered?? What does the interior look like?

looks bigger then 30 feet,,if the engines are staggared whih means the engines are not side by side and the front drivers seat has a double seat then its a 79-83 scarab 377..if it is 30' then i could be a scarab panther..

Randy Nielsen 03-19-2013 02:06 AM

The cover was stolen this year. The interior has always needed redone & last time I checked both small blocks ran. I have a replacement transom assy for the broken one. I really need to sell a few projects to finish the current ones. So yes it was legal to run when I bought it. Randy

jaxon 04-02-2013 10:03 PM

It has twin 454 in it now, they supposedly don't run, the interior is mostly there like in the cabin outside interior us shot. It has the trs outdrives intact all steering and hydraulics for trim and lift. I want it so bad.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The engines are side by side. One seat on each side and cabin entrance in the center. I looked up an 83 catalog and found a similar scarab ii that has all the teakwood just like this above the windshield and all. Refrigerator. It's identical. Different color. I'm wondering if this puppy may have some hi perf parts inside those old engines if not ruined. Hope I can talk the wife into trading. Heck might throw in my mustang.

It is a very early '80's 30' Scarab II. The flat deck version was the "S" type. Later on the II got a rounded windshield and the "S" became the Panther FWIW.

mike4980 04-03-2013 08:53 PM

The boat in the pic is a Scarab 300 basically a panther but with a windshield and a few creature comforts on the inside actually should have a sink in the dash on the port side.

Look at the deck. It has a raised deck. The old 300's, S types and panthers are flat decks.

jaxon 04-07-2013 04:00 PM

28 cgsss i agree with you that is the exact boat,

jaxon 04-07-2013 04:03 PM

My s-type is a raised deck!

502ss 04-08-2013 08:05 PM

Definitely a 30'. Deck looks a bit different than my 84 300 s-type. Might by a panther. Does it have a single rear engine hatch or double hatches?

Really............is it just the center section that is slightly raised or does the deck shoot right up about 4" at the top of the rub rail
like the II does?

jaxon 04-13-2013 06:58 AM

This one im trying to get has the double hatch engine compartment. It also has the side by side cabin hatches. What do you think ts worth with the hull in from what i can tell the stringers are good, the transom is solid, I think someone has really taken care of it before it was abandoned.

How much is your camper worth??
--Two running 454's are worth $4000 and the trailer is worth at least $1500. I havent seen the Scarab but I would think at least $9,000 with the engines.

its a 26' 93 prowler probabaly about $4000. I may end up having to give him some boot for everything, but i want it and it has many accessories still intact. K planes in great shape, mercury trs velvet drives. If the boat is a poor prospect ill just get my money back by parting it out. Right?:party-smiley-004:

jaxon 05-06-2013 11:03 AM

:daz:xI got the boat!!!!!! I'll get some before and after pics started
