Default Anyway to look up previous owners???

I bought a Powerquest as a repo and the boat has been flawless(Lucky, I know!) but I would really like to track down the previous owner to ask them a few questions. Is there a gov't source(like public record stuff) I could go through? It's from Dayton, OH and was kept on Lake Norris in Tennessee. I only know this from the yearly slip sticker from 2010 on Norris and the repo paper work stated it was CR from Dayton, OH. Any help on this would be great or if it's not possible, someone save me some wasted research time!

If it was a documented vessel, it would be on public record with the coast gaurd.

Unfortunately it was not, it's only a 24' boat.

If you have the sticker on the boat, get the number off it and call the entity that issues them in that state. (DNR,Fish and Game, Revenue????) Give them the number and they will be able to give you the last registered owner, address, etc. If it came with a trailer, same thing there, just contact the state it was last titled in. The dealer should be able to give you a copy of the last title, registration etc for your records...

You could also post a picture of the boat on OSO, likely someone here would be able to help you as well.

With the condition the boat was in I have no fear they would be OK to deal with. The boat was clean and I'm just assuming someone that took such good care of something would be willing to answer a few questions. I'll not mention I know it was a repo, maybe they will think I didn't know they had it repo'd? It's been almost two years since it happened.

I'll see if I can find the old #'s, hopefully I have the original paperwork and it has it on it!

I think it is a good idea, they will either tell you off, or they will have all the stuff that they took off the boat to sell you for a lot less than it would cost you otherwise. I got a hold of the previous owner of my boat, he gave me all the manuals, the table and cushion for the front lounge area, the stern and prop locks, remote control for the Garmin's ect ect and only asked for $1000 for everything. And for an older boat they can explain all the things about the boat that you might not know.

you think that is tough, I bought my house out of foreclosure and my neigbor was the parents of the one foreclosed on. they then sold their house to their son so then my neigbor was the family that used to live in my house. then they lost that house to foreclosure so it is not as awkward now.
