I'd say he was lucky. Pretty dumb to be that close to shore with big rollers like that. he was probably fine and safe until that outside set showed up. Could have been worse if he didn't try to escape. might have rolled it over the falls and sunk it and possibly drown everyone on board to boot.

Wow. just watched it again in HD. yeah that was a huge outside set that came in. Looks like a beautiful day with an offshore breeze. massive storm waves rolling in all cleaned up by the breeze. Just ran a little too close to the shore figuring all the waves were the same. But that set came in and trapped him inside.

Looks like she broke about 6" behind the back seat Port side at the 3 penetrations you can see in this "kid video"...(assuming the same boat about 6 seconds in). Someone else posted this earlier in the other thread..

Looked for her in Alameda Friday...but didn't see her...glad someone else posted a pic .

Too bad about the boat however...
