Victory Reportedly Withdraws from Class 1

Interesting. Raceboat magazine painted this as a sign of economic struggles in Dubai. It would be real cool if they brought their boats over to race. It would be cool to see CMS, Gasse, Geico, and others race against them. They all have raced with or against each other in some capacity. I don't know why Victory Team would pull out of Class 1, they seem to control it, to race over here. I am unable to link the article from Raceboat International Magazine.

Doubtful they would come to the U.S.!
The U.S. is not without faults as well and seeing what happened to the Maritimo team after Key West, why would anyone come to the US to race?
What a sad state of affairs boat racing is in and with this economy hard to see it improving any.

Jason Johnson's story got me thinking (risky stuff, I know) ...
Viewed from afar, the grass seems a whole greener in UIM Class 1. But when you talk to people who are in it and have been so for a long time, you learn that, much as you wish otherwise, it's not.
They have politics. They have power struggles. They have battles over technical rule changes. They have checkbook racing.
About the only issue we have in domestic offshore racing that they don't? A gazillion classes that make no sense to anyone other than the racers who compete in them.
I take no satisfaction in the struggles of UIM Class 1. In fact, I wish it presented a complete and thriving model for offshore racing worldwide. Sadly, it does not. No one has it completely figured out. No one. But like the rest of you, I'm hopeful

Nascar is a buisness. The Corporation rules. Offshore racing is a hobby sport with type A thrillseeking egomaniacs with various sized checkbooks and their own iinterests at heart. Unless something big comes in from outside the sport, organizes it and throws dollars at it with a way of getting more dollars back... There really isn't much hope. If the racers are having fun, I think thats about the best you can hope for and expect.

Did you read what I wrote? Never mentioned logistic's as that is very easy in the US as everything is centralized on the South East mostly.

Wow that's pretty messed up. So did they ban it for future races? or did they strip the title? Did they ban it based on just tunnel? or was it cause of the drives?
