We are building a pair of these right now.
L92 with a good stroker rotating assembly, stock heads with good valves and valve job, proper valvetrain, custom cam. Should do right around 600hp. Closer to 550hp with a smaller cam and 87 octane if you go that way. Are you using the truck intake, something GM or an aftermarket intake like the FAST setups? |

Are you using the truck intake, something GM or an aftermarket intake like the FAST setups? Intake will probably be a Victor Jr either way. Victor Jr's are a good piece and with a proper cam and port work they really shine with some cubes under them. If you are looking at conventional style EFI intakes for the LS motors, the factory intakes work very well. The older Fast setups were a little over rated IMO. They did make more power but the quality was not where I would want it. Also they were not cheap depending on how you went about the setup and what intake you were taking off. The 102 is very nice piece. Cost is still up there however. It make great power, but they can also be a little difficult to tune with depending on Throttle body choice and things like that. Little long winded there but wanted to answer your question completely. |

Keep us up to date here on how that goes! I'd really like to build that exact motor, making 5-550 on 87 and trying to keep my bravo 1x alive. Bigger power would be a simple upgrade to a blower, 91 octane and a cam swap when I get a drive situation sorted out.

As far as swapping the cam, I think you would be fine running a blower spec cam while it is still NA. You will not give up much power and will save the head ache later. Just bolt on a blower and add good gas. We post quite a bit on facebook if you guys would like to keep up. We are about to dyno a 565 BBC with a Littlefield 14-71 that goes in the KPE Pro mod boat. It should do somewhere north of 2000hp. It is Lee Warrens boat for anyone who keeps up with the Lucas Oil Pro Mod guys. |
Appreciate your input to one of the better technical threads in a while. The factory intakes are hard to beat in boat RPM range. Why the shorter runners of the Vic jr and what do think about performance induction's (now Mast's) two piece intake?

We have the victor because the plan was to go carb. When cammed and setup properly, the torque difference at lower RPM's is not as dramatic as some make it out to be IMO. Midrange punch and beyond I would rather have the Single plane. Also cosmetically ( This customer is very particular) a single plane with a good looking throttle body or carb is great looking combination and give a more "built" appearance. The Mast intake is exceptional. I have worked with a few and plumbed a few for nitrous use and they are a fantastic intake. If you need to stay cast and want the most power out there, not much is going to touch it. |
I understand the customer wanting a certain look; I like the look of the Holley Hi Ram. Have you had a chance to work with it yet?

The fast intake is good for about 20 hp,we found I have the mast open plenum intakes on my boat but I think they give up,to much torque for a boat better for drag race we are going to do some intake testing next moth thr harrob intake works nice but pricy

Graham, is KPE Keeter Performace Engineering?
