more specifically, its a stroker 502 which is bored and stroked to 548ci. it has a set of edelbrock performer RPM marine heads with a reliable middle of the road hydraulic roller cam grind. its set up to be relaible and have long life. the power is about right for these parts at 650hp
the boat was going 87 when i got it. i spent time with having a propeller worked to give me the right amount of bow lift and rpm to run well whether the boat is loaded with people and fuel or not. i started with a 28p bravo1 so id have the mid range acceleration of the lower pitch but then i had the ears cupped a bunch to run like a 30p when the boat is moving fast. its really working well.
i have dry exhaust on it.. i bought a set of hardin marine headers that fit in place of the gil manifolds.. mainly for looks and finish and i like them a lot.
the dry exhaust allows me to run a wideband O2 senser in the tailpipes for tuning. i have the carb jetted to run 12.8:1 afr ot WOT and im running 37 degrees of timing.
between the carb, timing, prop i went from 87 to a best of 93.5mph (i was running against the tide yesterday)
ive been wanting a kryptonite since they first came out. a buddy of mine bought one new in 02 and i seen how it went with different combos. his last combo was 740hp NA and had a standoff box and a -2 shortie and went 100mph.
these boats have a fairly high X and a step, pad, and knotched transom.. so the boat has a lot to do with how well it runs.
like many of you guys, im a speed junkie motorhead! haha i build turbo race cars for a living. i am trying to be sensible and leave it alone but the psychopath in me wants heads and cam or a blower/blowthrough carb.. or efi combo.. then theres drive life that keeps me in check lol
i enjoy reading through this site and seeing everyones boats and projects!
hope im helping you guys with the winter blues!!
