Got this from another forum I'm on.....

"A local Pensacola business man stuffed his Velocity close to shore in Gulf Breeze today. Killed him, 2 more critical and the other 2 are stable. My next door neighbor is the City of Gulf Breeze Fire Chief and he said witnesses said the boat was running fast in shallow water, hit a wave, went airborne and stuffed hitting the bottom and disintegrating the boat. No one was wearing a PFD."

Don't know how accurate it is, but he's from the area.

I was watching a show a while back about a submarine that was sunk during WWII. It was something like a 130 feet long and sank in about 100 feet of water. The sub was long enough that the stern hit the bottom but the bow was still above water. The guys in the front half of the sub got out. The guys in the back didn't.

Never think about that stuff or "a stuff" and hitting bottom ever even though our boats are longer then the water is deep a lot of times. If I'm in 6' of water around here I'm more then happy and thats with a 19' boat doing 60mph. The right "stuff" and it would be sticking out of the mud like a channel marker. I have never thought of that ... ever.

Thoughts and prayers.

Got another update from the local.... Turns out he knows someone who was on the boat.

"Here is an update. The boat didn't stuff as previously reported. It blew over backwards. People thought it stuffed because of the massive destruction. Boats built very light to go faster just discentergrate on impact.

But stuffing in shallow water would be devastating as well.

Here is this mornings article from the Pensacola News Journal...
