Big Winter Projects! Big HP!

Cheer these guys on to get their winter projects finished up. I love seeing the big HP motors come together.

Any others out there?

Have a 2003 Hustler Talon 377 KE Limited. Very nice cat. Was selling it and noticed more soot on stern around one exhaust. Did compression check and discovered problem. Wasn't planning on any rebuild, but couldn't sell it knowing this. Pulled motor and discovered pinging damaged piston - piece missing from it! Plus rings were shot. Realized other motor would have same problem. 900 HP each. Pulled 2nd motor.

Callie's crank, Carrillo rods, Aries coated pistons. KE aluminum heads, full cradle. Too. Honed only .005 more. Discovered one transmission had metal in it and it was leaking into space in the stern wall. Rebuilding both super cyborgs. Rebuilding both fuel, oil, and impeller pumps (3 each). New distributors and alternators. EFI gone through completely. Bungs and O2 sensors installed. Switch installed on each EFI box to switch from sea level and 6250 ft elev (Lake Tahoe). Extra tooth pulley and larger blower belt for Tahoe running.

Wasn't planning on this, but it had to be done right. Have a great machinist (Augie at Superior Machine) and mechanic ( Brad Johnson of Pig Iron Racing/Tahoe Speedboat Co.

Going to relist for sale, but don't really care if it doesn't! Going to be sweet, new ride!

Should be together for Desert storm, can't wait to be somewhere warm!

Rick

Imagine someone bought that?! And you were pushing it hard for months ( every post). That's why high hp packages with big hours don't sell. In the end your boat will be much more marketable as its all fresh. This is a good example of someone taking VERY good care of something and thinking its gold but in the end that's what big hp gets ya. Best of luck with your sale it's a great package!

And, instead if asking $120K for a 146 MPH 1800 HP 38 ft 2003 Cat with 170 hrs on it I will be asking considerably more. I look at it as "Bang for your buck"!
