battery location and hold down options
I need to mount an Optima battery horizontally in a fairly tight spot. I'm thinking of using a steel battery box that is made for jeeps. I'll paint it to match the engine and heat exchanger. Below is a pic of the battery box and the boat it is going in. The picture of the battery box is the side that I'll thru-bolt to the battery shelf. ...nice thing about Optima batterys is that you can mount them upside down if you want to. ...no optima debates please I've used them for years.
This is a Donzi 22 and it has a battery shelf in the forward part of the engine compartment but I've take up some of that space wtih a a heat exchanger. There is a fair amount of room to still put the battery under the heat exchanger. I plan on mounting the battery horizontally underneath the heat exchanger in the pic. ...about 1/2 the battery will be under the HX so plenty of room left to run cables etc. Thanks for any advise.

It will fit better if I lay it down on it's side. ...height clearance issue.

Aluminum Battery Box
I use these for group 24 and optima with great results. They are 1/4 in cast aluminum
