Help Help Battery Issue

Hoping to have some opinions on this minor issue.

when i crank stb engine i hear a clicking noise , if I hook it up to a Jump Pack it does the same thing , if i get jumper cables and connect them from Port engine Battery to the other battery it starts right away.

any thoughts ? Perko switch went bad? or? what?

i appreciate your input.

Sounds like you are making a good ground when you jump from one side to the other. I'd check out the ground of the bad side.

Yep sounds like a bad ground from the engine to its battery.

Your jump pack may not have the CCA's needed to engage the starter that your actual Port Marine battery does. Just a hunch.

Jumper cables normally have better quality & heavier gauge cable than a jump box so you can put more juice through cables.

Jump pack is brand new and fully charged JNC 660 was told it is one of the best for the price and has more than enough power to crank , i will definately check the ground on that side, as always i appreciate your input.Thanks.

Every jump box I ever had was just a glorified motorcycle battery but they work in a pinch. +1 on all above comments, check your ground. I would also load test that battery, it will do the same thing if a cell is starting to go bad. Randy

Im in MN the only useful jump box is a 27 series deep cycle starting battery and 2ga wire to the clamps. Jump boxes are generally useless.

Swap batteries from side to side see if the problem follows the battery, if not look for a poor ground, or loose connection

Off topic...
FWIW, this jumpbox is hella powerful:

I've jumped my dually with it. I hate the fact that it has a compressor and inverter built in; but it's transformer is a trickle charger so you leave it plugged in all the time and it stays topped off.
