Twenty+ years of homework complete. A Skater, MTI, and similar copy will exceed 130 with that power.

Center-pod "cats" are a different story. I happen to be prejudiced against them and will not even consider them "cats" in discussions about speed.

I disagree I don't think a pleasure 40' Skater or MTI will exceed 130mph w/ stk Merc 700's but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what I think, my original statement was that 120mph+ would be a stretch for the 40' Vee.

A standard tunnel (not wide or extended) 40 skater usually needs about 800hp a side to run 120 with a weekend load. 5 people, cooler, fuel, etc....

Depends on who you ask...if you ask our dyno, or Dustin..you'll get a different answer. A little less than 700 is what we have found over and over.
I hope OL reaches there goal, it will certainly raise the bar!

Agreed.
I do hope they reach the goal though.

So what is the fastest that any pleasure vee has run with stock Merc 700's ?

For the record, the 40 MTI's that run mid 120's with stock 700's certainly are not P.O.S.'s.

Great question, Glad? Fountain? OL? The now disintegrated Velocity?

I don't the exact number for any, I've heard 120ish for all!

Was now disintegrated really necessary? Jeez..have a little respect...it was a very unfortunate accident.

I think with stock 700 merc's OL will see that 120 mark, my 2007 quattro with 100% stock 700's ran 110.4 on gps ( not embelishing ).Today that is eight year old plus technology ! As for stock 700 pleasure cats I had a Nor-tech than ran 124. Never owned a Skater or MTI, just not my taste.Technology and R&D has definately taken both hull styles to the next level to say the least. So my 02 is Dont hate, buy what you want.... but if you want to be impressed take a ride up to Bristol RI and take a look for yourself. Peace

Looking forward to this Outerlimits.Perfect size and power,in my opinion. As far as top speed with 700's, in a similar sized boat, the Hustler 39 Rockit runs around 114. Curious what the price would be on the OL?
