So happy the crew of this boat walked away!
Seems like there are a lot of very qualified / experienced performance drivers (and one Go Pro expert) on this thread. Maybe I'm missing something here but haven't seen one post on why this happened. The cause seems crystal clear. Heavy acceleration crossing a wake.....this caused port prop to break loose, chine walk, crash, end of story.
Again, maybe I'm missing something. I have owned performance boats for 35 years, the best investment I ever made was learning how to drive by a professional. Until this becomes a requirement we'll continue to watch videos like this and see insurance rates climb.

It seems like we have this same thread/topic many times every year:
speeds
race or poker run
liability
responsibility
insurance
negative impact on sport
Someone pick the needle off the record, it's stuck; and no one seems to care.

Everyone is pitching a fit about how unsafe the speeds are, you couldn't ask for better conditions or for a more open lake? That's why we buy these boats! Stupid mistake by the driver to cross behind too close is all I see wrong....

That sucks!!
I have a question....How do we have 3:00 of video leading up to the accident and 2 seconds during the accident? Did the person recording actually stop recording?

I personally can't see how you can operate a boat at 160mph on a confined body of water without a resrticted course and be in control of your vessel. It is impossible to avoid a pleasure boater, fisherman, or inner tuber and still safely correct your course without risking yourself and your passengers. Its like rearending someone in a car, you are always at fault for not having your vehicle under control.
Injury or not I'm sure the lawyers will be out.
