Default To Etch or Not?

Going to paint motor. Oil pan is bare metal and block. Also have aluminum valve covers and intake. Do I need to use a etching primer on the bare metal and aluminum parts or do I just use a high heat primer? Thanks.

yes you should etch the bare metal. I would reccomend a polyuroxy or epoxy sealer on the aluminum parts it will not come off. RM sells a 2 part epoxy in a rattle can that works good .

Epoxy is the way to go.
