I didn't see several boats that I was expecting to see there. Did the offshore races in Mississippi effect the turn out? And I always heard how Lake Havasu is a boaters paradise BUT I thought there would be more bar and grills on the water and the food at most the places was nothing to brag about. The bars at Ozarks cater to the boaters so much more and their food is awesome!! Soo many of the bars there are set up to make you feel like you're in paradise with swim-up bars, waterfalls, beaches, etc. I always spend a week at LOTO for the shootout and IMO I would much rather spend a vacation at LOTO than Havasu any day! What do you guys think?

I would rather spend a vacation in Havi.

We drove out from Vegas too. It was different than most events. We got there saturday afternoon and everyone was loading up. It was so hot we had lunch, walked around and left. It would be great with a boat out on the water but too long of a haul for me.

It was my first time this year and look forward to next year!

Personally I think the Water and boating on Lake Michigan is the best, especially if you like swimming in super clean clear water.

I feel havasu has cleaner, clearer swimming water then Loto

But Havasu was awesome. Lots of Motorized toys and eye candy everywhere!

Yes LOTO is awesome but I guess I am more into driving my boat or hanging out on boats then pulling up to bars. So yes, LOTO is the place to be if you want to pull up to bars.

Both loto and Havasu have a TON of cool go fast boats zooming around.

Both Great places to visit.

Go to VRBO.com and check out private condos. There are a lot of affordable places to stay at LOTO.

We spent the whole week at Havasu. Got hooked up with River Dave and the crowd from www.riverdavesplace.com, and the rest is history. They treated us like family the entire week, made sure we got to see some of everything the area has to offer, had us over to his house to cook out, took my son off roadin in the desert, set us up with more RDP members and went to Parker on the river for a day, visited a couple of the manufacturers in Havi and toured their factories and saw them building boats from the ground up, attended the street party and Dave invited us on the big houseboat he had for the poker run to cap off the week. Needless to say we had the best trip we've ever taken and would go back in a heart beat. Haven't been to LOTO, but maybe next year.

You don't haul a kayak. Just flip it on the roof of your moms Camry

What's the popular part of the lake to stay on or near?

I'd suggest from the 10mm to the 25mm, with "main on main" being close to the Grand Glaize arm. I would suggest staying on the ease side (Lake Ozark, Osage Beach). Check out Kapilana.net. We have owned there for 10 years and although it is older, the location is great by both land and water, and it is affordable.
Wherever you end up staying, you will not make a bad decision. Enjoy the lake!

Loto party cove has moved more than an Iraqi mobile missile launcher.
Havasu Channel and Sandbar remain the same.

I would NOT haul my boat from FT Laud to Havasu. I WILL haul it from Ft Laud to LOTO.

Havasu is great without a boat, LOTO not so much.

Just my 2cents. Worth about 1.2 cents since '08.
I usually don't chime in on stuff like this, but I think you summed it up perfectly Cash. And when you add it all up, it's a wash. They're both great places to be on the water.
