John Lamont's Cool Kat. RPM Redline

I had the pleasure of doing the Chattanooga poker run with a good friend of mine john Lamont. He just finished his new 28 Redline. This is the first small cat i have ever been in and impressed is an understatement, It handled the Washing machine like water with the same feel as a big cat. It was like riding in a mini MTI. Mark Boo's from Precision Power built one of the cleanest looking motors i have ever seen. The rigging is flawless.

I like these boats a lot. There was 1 at the Desert Storm street scene this year and the owner was nice enough to let me sit inside. I was impressed. Sick boat and a cool owner.

johnlomant 05-13-2013 04:33 PM

I had fun Carry. This was my first time out in the boat and it more than I ever expected also. The rigging is so nice and the boat does ride great. I had a Nordic thor and also a DCB F32 and this boat just makes me soo happy to drive.

Aside from a 28 Skater, they are my favorite small cat. Way cool looking, never heard a bad thing

The extension looks extremely funky. Otherwise that boat has sexy lines IMO

This boat is amazing need vids of it please post

Nate5.0 05-14-2013 06:58 AM

Always put back by how clean the rigging in those boats are.

Jason Johnson 05-14-2013 12:16 PM

The guys at RPM do excellent work ... I've never heard a complaint from an owner. One of them, Jeff Ford, who I always see at Desert Storm, is a great guy. He's probably who let tjred sit in the boat at the street party.

Ptufaro 05-14-2013 08:25 PM

Look's good John
I like the color combo too

rlj676 05-14-2013 08:35 PM

Beautiful boat, and I like the rear.

RPM is the top single engine cat in my opinion. Wish I could swing one and insure it!

J.P. 05-15-2013 07:51 AM

Really sharp and clean looking. With are without the transom extension that is a big 26 footer.
Wonder what drive packaged the owner went with. Congrats!

It has a 588ci roller motor with an 8.1 Whipple hooked to a #6 Drive with 1.35 gears. It is a beast.

chattviper 05-15-2013 10:09 AM

Great looking boat in person. Congrats John! Beautiful! Lets hit some poker runs now!!!

Dukedonzi 05-15-2013 10:28 AM

Love the red!

low_psi 05-15-2013 10:29 AM

I'd say post more pics of the engine compartment.... But the rigging is so freaking clean, there really isn't much to look at. It's like the boat was built to display the beautiful motor.....

Boatlesss 05-15-2013 11:56 AM

well what is the speed?

One in the classifieds with a little less power and claiming 124mph with 2 on board.

We only ran it to 100 that day. There were so many logs in the water,we didn't want to chance breaking anything. If my memory serves me correct, I saw 136 on the tale tale. They said it had more.:eekdrop:

caseyh 05-15-2013 09:03 PM

Jeff lerks around here. The white and blue one That was at DS. Think he is 130 range also.

575cat 05-16-2013 09:40 AM

They are typically on top of there stuff at the RPM shop. To have not answered back quickly. They do a lot of work on all types of boats too. Just like marine repair shop.

Here I am...:thankyouthankyou:Johns boat is beautiful looked awesome before, even nicer with the drive bezel, really wanting to know if the handling is any different with the bezel, I know it helped AJ when Peter did his Skater...

The speedo don't lie, but I sent lower to Wilson's and they did my prop too, the prop I may should have left alone they took to much out I have only ran it one time hard at Tickfaw 5 people 130:evilb:

They really do build an amazing boat and with each new boat they b uilkd they get better and better...

Here is a cool little video my friend from Hotboat.com shot...:evilb:...

Are running the standard SCX or the -4 W # 6 props ? how does it handle that rough stuff ? do get beat up in the seats or not ? sounds like quite a bit of pounding of course from the transom cam .

I am running the SCX-4 drive, ran it all last year, I love the drive, knock on wood, best drive hands down for a Bravo set up, RPM boats, love the rough water, I will say this I rode in a 26 Daytona for the first time, and had the chit beat out of me...JS this boat will plain blow your mind, with it's rough water handling, speed, and fit and finish, put it this way, how many 26' cats with 650hp can run 120-122 NONE, your kinda far to come down for a ride, but like I tell everyone, all are welcome..."Just bring beer"...lol:daz:

TBAG 05-16-2013 07:33 PM

Love it, little too much red for my taste but oh well. The rigging, lines and power are amazing.

I am not a fan of Red by no means, but I could live with Johns boat, the red, black simple combination is tolerable to my pallet , RPM has made leaps and bounds since my boat was built, but like everything, you better the more you build and learn, I am salivating at having a 30-32 built, slap 2 1350/M8 drives on her, and set the 200mph record:eekdrop:...:evilb:

CB-BLR 05-16-2013 09:06 PM

Very Nice John !!

Chris

575cat 05-16-2013 09:16 PM

Redline Did you loose any speed or gain any more prop slip with the -4 and # 6 props compared to the previous drive ?
