Default Merc Bravo One Damage

I had a tree fall during Hurricane Sandy on my boat. Thankfully little hull damage, but a branch of the tree broke a corner off the cavitation plate on my Bravo one upper. Anyone know if this can be welded like the skeg? Hate to have to buy a new upper case.

thanks in advance,

I had a 2" x 5" section of cavitation plate break off on my 225 outboard for my offshore boat. I took it off and made/welded the piece back on and its been going strong for 2 years now. Granted its not a bravo or a speed boat, but it is a heavy offshore cc. Don't see how it would be different.
