It is always good to hear when boaters get a break. For people like myself & my wife who have traveled a few times to poker runs it is nice to hear because I would be more inclined to go where we won't be hassled. Performance boats stand out on any body of water & make easy targets for law enforcement. We have been fortunate in that we have never been pulled over anywhere we have gone but I try very hard not to boat unsafely & try to give plenty of space to others. I hope that people don't take advantage of this law & continue to boat responsibly so that other states will do the same & give the people that really love this sport the freedom to do so without feeling persecuted. Hopefully it passes the senate and gets signed into law. Passing the house of reps does not make it a law.

It's about time! I urge everyone to pass this on to their state and federal representatives.

Very good news. I am interested to see if it is of any real benefit to all boaters out on Erie. I may print it out and keep it on my boat. then again, I'm sure they hate when you get "smart" with them.....

Michigan needs this too. It is not hard to see 4 different agencies pulling people over constantly on the Saginaw River let alone the busy inland lakes. Performance boaters on the river can darn near get pulled over everytime out.

These boater's rights laws are great, and we need to be sure to police ourselves so they stay in effect. |

Just sent an email off to my state rep asking why we don't have something like this in our state.

It would be nice to see some logical legislation pass for a change. NY representatives avoid logic at all costs.
