Ahh the good old days. When cigarettes were considered fast. Phew , has it been 25 years already? Time is moving faster than a 35 Cafe Racer apparently

Reading this, then posting feels like a group therapy session where we all admit what dorks we were. Here goes.................

So I had a wood-grain Caprice Estate wagon for a winter rat in college, bought with a bad cam....slid in a cam out of an old truck motor I had laying around....strong mid-range but no vacuum assist for brakes. You got two pumps then no power assist, but it had a serious system in it so we took it two Daytona Beach for spring break. IASCA nationals were going on and we got some very funny looks when people on the beach realized the wood-grain wagon had the beats covered.
Moved straight into an Escort EXP, couple 15's in a sealed box with an Autotek drawing more amperage than a stick welder and the sunroof needed weekly silicone injections to keep the seats dry. The EXP did get 38mpg heading to FLA the next spring.
Then came the IROC, complete with 5% tint on all windows that got me pulled over the first night out on the town. That night I realized you could not even see out the windows in the dark. Wife got stopped by three cops claiming they heard that stereo from the far side of down-town and really just wanted to know what was in it for equipment.

I also had EQ boosters in more than one vehicle, and once had an FM converter in a field car.

Ok, that is enough....could go on and on. If I told you the weight of some things I have pulled behind pick-ups a full fledged riot may errupt.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to think of all the names of Ford vehicles that they can.

Got 'em?

Ok.

Now put the word "Anal" in front of those names.

Have fun!

OH...and BZ in an Escort???? It'd be like a clown car!

So you had the EQ boosters and FM converter but you haven't lived till you've heard a Re-verb through home stereo speakers . Had this system mounted in my 61 Chev Impala wit a 62 front end with the required flat black hood with chrome hood pins powered by a 283 hypo , Cherry Bomb muffler and three on the floor . Sure woulda been biotchen wit one o dem 90mph paint jobs . Guess one can't have everything . Sorry , didn't mean to brag bout my good fortune .

You guys are all puppies if you think anything from the mid 70's through most of the 90's was fast from the factory.

Seems about 8 pages back you started a thread about a 25 year old boat. I can only assume that time and ????? has shown that maybe you bought the wrong 25 year old boat?

That's OK - I'm sure it was just a MILD BLUNDER on your part.

No regrets here! Its always nice to get a rise out of the Cig guys though. I'd personally love to own a 46 Rough Rider one day. Until then, its IROC's and GLH"s for me
