Dude...best place to watch on Detroit/US side is on the fishing pier next to the Coast Guard Station-Belle Isle, on the S/E (Canadian side of island)...The fishing pier sticks out, just past the CG station and you can see/hear them coming down the shipping channel, which btw, narrows right at the CG pier...You can almost touch the boats...Even the Coasties stop and come out to watch...VERY EXCITING!!!...But, there is an added bonus...once they pass and I clean up and I change my underwear...They turn around and do it all over again!!!...WHAT A BARGAIN!!!...but, there is also a down side (an equal and opposite reaction)...once the "Sound of Music" has headed up channel, I am forced to return to my "Skaterless" existance....so sad...tears..
