I was going to change mine after the first season, till I saw what a biotch it was going to be. I'm pretty sure the book calls for every 3 years. Let's not forget how Mercury said this motor was designed to be very "user friendly" when they released it!

I changed mine after 4 summers and 220 hours. They were still working fine and looked in good shape. We did the Hardin stainless pumps while they were apart..
