You need to check your rpms gauge.. 54 is highly unlikely at 4k. My 25 was best at 50 in perfect conditions at 4k. I would say yours is 2-300 rpms off. So your probably running 62 at 4800.. that's what mine ran any day with the 23m+! Light, I could pull 4900ish at 63 in summer.

yep something is definitely wrong, but at least both props achieved the same WOT rpm and mph
will get my Gaffrig RPM gauge looked at, but Monday my 23P is going to Merc Racings for a face lift....lol

Not sure what kind of boating you do, but I was always loaded and the 3 blade would lose a cpl MPH with the added weight. I ended up with a bravo 22p worked up to a 23p. You cold probably turn. 24p and lab it to squeese the rest out or try a 23p rev4!
Unless your usually light and looking for top end... can't have both :-)

24p bravo 1 sounds interesting / lab finished, not sure what a 23p rev 4 is though...

Are you sure your not taping the rev limiter. I had the same prop on my last 272 baja 502mag. Best speed was 64.3 mph bumping the rev limiter. I went to a 25 4 blade. I can't remember what kind of prop it was though. I wouldn't send it out to have it labbed but that's just my two cents. Keep trying different props if you have friends that will let you try them. When I put the 25 4 blade on I lost 1mph but I was off if the rev limiter and it pulled a little bit harder as well.

Assuming the tach is right and you are only getting 4500 rpm's with a 23 mirage + then a 24 bravo 1 would not be a good prop as it would probably put you close to 4100. A 22 bravo would be similar in rpm's compared to your mirage prop.
In my opinion, I think there may be something going on with the motor if it is in fact only able to spin a 23p mirage to 4500. My last boat was a baja 235 force and I built a mild 486 that was maybe close to 400 hp and it spun my 23 mirage + to 5000-5100. I ended up going to a 25 mirage+ to lower the rpms a little because I had a cast bottom end and didnt want to spin it that high. My point is I think that a 502 should be able to turn the 23 to at least 5000 with ease. My Baja was a little smaller, but don't think that is an issue here.
