This bill is the right thing to do for everyone involved. Over the weekend, when it wasn't raining, we sat in our backyard and watched the Coast Guard go from boat to boat to PWC to even a few kayaks. Many boats just sitting there fishing or hanging out. The most time was spent with the PWCs, seems like they were handing out ticket after ticket. Laws need to be enforced but a reasonable approach needs to be taken.

I love the idea of the Bill, but will Ohio State Law have any impact on USCG vessels stopping boats ?

Nope, they are federal and as far as pwc's and such getting ticket after ticket these laws that Mi and now Ohio are passing prevent water cops from stopping you for NO REASON under the guise of safety BUT if you don't have a safety sticker or are doing anything that appears to be illegal you can and probably will still be stopped. So if someone too young is riding a jet ski , someone is violating the distance laws etc they will still get pulled over. There are lakes in Mi I have heard of cops giving out reckless driving tickets on PWC'S for guys doing donuts and jumping wakes etc as they deemed it "reckless" and really jet skis are boring if you aren't doing a little hot dogging, I would never waste my time buying one but that's just me, Smitty
