Latham Steering Reservoir Question
I just installed a Latham steering reservoir to complete my full steering system. But I have noticed after every run there is a little fluid on the top of the reservoir coming out of the vent. Check with a friend and had the same thing going on and said it is normal.
Has anyone created a setup with a blue anodized cap that does not vent out the side? Or is there something else that can be dome to still allow venting but not have to collect on the outside of the reservoir? Thank you for the help in advance. |
Put a solid cap on it, no need to vent. All hydraulic steering systems other than boats don't vent. Pressure is ok will only make 5 lbs.

Thank you for the reply, I will look for a non venting blue anodized cap.

I have this problem as well but it is so bad that it leaves a puddle under my boat every time. Seems it's gotten worse over the past year. Any other fixes?

I like this idea!
Do you have any pictures of your set up? Maybe it comes in blue? |

I am very happy with this solution, it is surprising how much the level in the reservoir varies according to running time/temp I used this style bottle so that I would get an alarm for low fluid http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-MerCruis...00027167193%26 Full hydraulic steering is not much use without the fluid :drink: |
