Formula Fastech 382 SR1 Gauges
I have a 382 sr1 fastech and need to replace my oil gauges because the mechanic said that when the engines were rebuilt it has American senders and the gauges I have are European. Can anyone help me on which are the ones I need and where to get them inexpensively?
by "European" I assume he means you have the VDO gauges? Is it an older SR1 or a fstech?
Yes vdo. It's a fastech.
VDOs were used till 97, 98 changed to Gaffrig.
I just sent a text to a friend who may have some VDO senders... they are different from the merc ones
Thanks. I appreciate it. Is it better to change the senders or the gauges? 8 was this king of maybe changing all the gauges.
Just depends on what your after! Changing a sender is a $40 job, changing gauges on the other hand can get expensive fast :)

Arite isn't the sr1 the pre fastech go fast hual that formula made.. or am I worng? Now I think if u r doing one or two you should do them all. So I would say do the sending units

I had the same issue, got my vdo senders through napa . Remember on the fuel gauge that sender would have to be changed too if you were to do gauges. Vdo is pretty much backwards from everybody else
