Default Scarab 28 excel

Hi i got a 1989 scarab 28 excel

Engine
502 cid with a holly 750 carb bravo 1 drive with an external extention
Prop is at the moment bravo 1 4 blade 24 pitch but im finding it to big.
The boat is making around 50 mph.

It even got one layer of anti fouling

Do someone know what proper prop i need for my boat cause i cant fit any 3 bladed cause the stern drive is to high
And it catches alot of air and the boat want even move


Any help please ???????

Is it a stock 415HP 502? Seems about right. Might try a 22 to get the revs up a bit, but I would guess you will only see a few MPH on the top end.

Yes its a stock engine

I had a 454 with the same carb it was a 380 magnum and use to do 54/55 with the same prop i made the 502 its a bigger engine and im doung less speed thats my headache

my buddy has one w/496 b1. he is seeing 50-54. running a 23p b1 @4600

So do you think thats the average speed of those boats im seeing it slow.

You have bottom paint on it which is slowing you down quite a bit.... get rid of the bottom paint and you will probably pick up a considerable amount. I had minor calcium build up from some sort of shelled thing that was left on my boat when I bought it. Once I acid washed all of that stuff off (which wasn't a lot) it picked up well over 5 MPH.

Wow thats gd i will spray the bottom part next year cause i made the paint
Cause i leave it 3 months in the sea and to keep it clean its abit of a hassle

I have the same boat. Stock 454 Magnum 365hp no bottom paint 21p Mirage. 51mph @ 5200rpm
