That is probably a Wellscraft.....that is Marty Wells in the picture holding the hose. These are the type of boats they use in the marathon ski races and the circle races.....they hold these races on lakes and rivers on the West Coast. The skiers ski these races at over 100 miles per hour!!!!!
They use these boats for practice for the Catalina ski race...makes it much more difficult for the skier for good practice and it cost a lot less for fuel than running a big offshore boat.
The Catalina ski race is eight days away....and yes, these boats are tougher for the occupants than the skier....brutal ride in the open water!!!

I take 65 mph cruises behind the DCB for about 50 miles on Lake Cumberland. I use a Majerajah racing ski. I can't imagine going 100 mph in the ocean for that long of a trip. When the water gets rough you have to maintain a high degree of concentration so you don't stuff. If its rough it takes a lot of energy. Not as much as when it is smooth. I've been pretty close to 100 behind our old drag boat. The driver can make a big difference. The boat also makes a big difference. It is much easier to ski behind my friends Baja than my 34 cat. I can't seem to find any one wanting to do this sort of thing on the east coast.
