Default New Merc 525SC

Ok. Has anyone had the honor of purchasing a new boat with the brand new 525SC that was unveiled at the Miami show this year?

A friend around here just ordered his new 33 Donzi ZX with them and I wanted to know if anyone else has them and how they do.

I think it is great Mercury has improved upon the 500efi but why do they keep stacking motors in this horsepower power range? Now they have 500efi-470pshp, 525efi-500pshp, and 575sci-550pshp. and then it jumps to the new 1050sci at 1000pshp. What happend to the 600 or 700 or 800 pshp range. I think that is why guys like Teague and Eickert will make a killing because of their 620 and 675 pshp models that they offer, which is good for them. maybe it is because of the bravo 1, and they don't want engines that will easily blow up their drives.

What is the base block for the 525EFI? The 496 or the 502. Is the 525efi running any type of blower motor?

The 525 is based on the 502.
I'm not sure why Merc put the time and expence into building another engine based on the 502, considering GM is looking to discontinue the 502 within a couple years.
