Moments ago they were running 41.9 MPH which if they can maintain will still smash Buzzi's record. Now less than 80 miles to go.

I guess I should have utilized the provided spreadsheet, I like those numbers even better!

Been keeping track all day... hoping the boat holds together so we can have the record where it belongs !

Want to say thanks to you both for continuing to push the envelope - in conditions all OSO'rs can respect... hats off.

It seems the weak link for those of us running surface drives is our props. I break at least one each and every year and it is always either port or starboard and never the centre one which is deeper in the water. The constant in and out of the water with our props at the surface takes it's toll. Someone much smarter than me once explained the physics of it and made a lot of sense.

I would assume with my limited understanding of metal properties, that the constant loading and unloading of the prop work hardens the material. It then gets brittle and cracks/fails.

From their facebook site at roughly 10:15pm EST: "57 miles to go as of 10 minutes ago. 2 hours and 44 minutes to beat the record. They are going for it!!"
