Inconel deals with heat extremely well. The only experience I have with it is in firearm suppressors. It's hard to work and work hardens quickly. I'm sure it would be a better option than stainless steel for surfacing props. No idea how it would stack up to titanium though. Cost on the other hand, might quickly make it not an option.

Forged steel. Herring makes them, so does Radice. They are $25,000 or so a pair.

MUCH tougher.

No, I think this comes down to the propeller choice they made. They had broken the sister propellers from the same manufacturer and I believe there were some concerns for these from the start. I don't know how long the first one lasted in this race, but given the time line they most likely didn't get the propellers they wanted rather they got the propellers they could use.
