To clarify the prop issue... When we got the Skater last fall, it came with two steel props made by Precision Werx. Tyson and Chris threw a blade in Feb attempting the Key West to Cancun run. We tracked down another set from Precision Werx and they sent them to us. They are stainless steel. They departed this morning with the stainless set in the water, the steel prop that was still "good" (Tyson did some welding to hold it together before they left) and one borrowed Hering prop. They broke one stainless PW prop around 60 miles out and put the Hering on. Then the second stop they broke the other PW prop and put on the steel welded prop.

So basically their chances were very slim.... He said they kept doing all the math to find out just how fast they had to go to save the props and make it to beat the record.

They are staying at someone's house in Bermuda that is "bad azz".

And he says "Big thanks to Joe Sabo for letting us stay at his Bed and Breakfast/Prop Rental Store" aka... Thank you Joe for lending them the prop. They couldn't have finished without it! (They stayed with At Joe's last night.)

There will be a lot more thanks to friends, fans, and sponsors after they get some rest and get to a computer.

Congratulations to both of you and everyone that supported the effort, especially the sponsors. Great job

Dang it, now you've forced me to change my build plans yet again..:lolhit:

Congrats guys, seriously nice time on this run. I've actually been eying that 17hr record time for a while thinking it was smashable with a pair of 500hp common rails attached to some over-driven egg beaters. Just bought a hull and new kidney belts...LOL

FYI: since LOTO is coming up, would someone please lay down a documented 101mph run with a diesel and bring this record home also.

fastest-production-diesel-boat

I've been dealing with Guinness for the past year on our request for a new "Fastest B100 Biodiesel Powered Boat" record. Monday they sent me an email with all the details required to take that one listed above for "fastest production diesel boat" instead. I replied, if the "production" part is not important, then I'll gladly swap turbos, run on petor-diesel and shatter it next month. However I know there is faster diesel boats than mine out there, and we already documented a 1-kilo 80mph B100 run last year that we just want adjudicated. It's a GREEN thing...

So if someone were to maybe swap out props, and turn up the fuel a bit, I'm guessing LOTO would be a good spot to lay down a speed Guinness would accept without question for that record. I know of a certain white, red, and green Italian owned diesel out there that would probably own it already, if they knew it was open to non-production boats.. If someone can take a shot before me, I have the requirements in a PDF file to send ya.

Congrats again guys, nice work.

Congrats guys, fantastic job!!!!

On a side note, with some forged prop testing, several sets of spares, and carrying a lot less fuel, it looks like you could trim significant time off another attempt (assuming you were fortunate enough to run in similar conditions)!

Great way to claim Bermuda as part of the Skater Nation!

For whatever reason I see a bit of hummour in the Fabio vs. 426 Skater runs. Fabio made his run in a "State of the Art" boat commissioned for the Italian military.

Tyson and Gavin used the 2 yr. old Skater that was aparently passed over by the US armed forces (which branch I do not recall) and smashed Buzzi's record running the last 3+hours with serious prop issues......In the Fabio run they were getting sea sick, in the Skater it literally looked like a burger run.

There must be a difference in the interpretation of performance between the two countries.

And yes, I can think of a couple of WWII tank jokes - LOL

Can't wait for Jay's pic of the homecoming in LOTO
