I feel your pain, I also have a boat in fantastic shape for the year and my boat has been listed on OSO and powerboatlistings for the last 2 yrs and I either get low balled during a phone call or some dumb @sses who have know clue about the boat. I will probably just have to trade her when I move up next year to make the deal happen and I know that's going to HURT!

Another negative you have is Marinette, Wisc is one long haul to come see and/or pick up a boat for most people. I agree $15K is a low ball offer but what are they reducing the boat you want to purchase by ? or are you looking for a dealer to buy your boat only ?

Boat prices are soft, that's all there is to it. I have seen SMOKING deals on real nice, clean twin engine boats of the 2000-2002 vintage for what you would think a single would sell for. I have also seen guys asking 32,500 for 2000 Baja 272's and they will probably still have it for sale next year. There are LOW hour boats out there for sale (125-200 hours) of your vintage and if yours has 400 hours they will get the call first. List your boat on E-bay asap (season is heading to a end very soon) and set your reserve where you want it and list your phone number in the ad, after the auction is over, you may get a call with a offer . I know several people who have sold boats this way, Smitty

A boat dealership is a buisness. Buisnesses exist to make money. It's in his best interest to by low and sell high. As low and as high as the market can bare. If he is succesfull at figuring out what the market will bare he makes good money and stays in buisness. If he is not good at figuring out the market, eventually he will be working the cheese shredder at Taco Bell. Its that simple. His mission isn't to give you smokin deal, his goal is to pay his mortgage, car payment, insurance, feed his family etc. Giving you a smokin deal is about 358th on his list.

I cant belive that no one out there wants a great, fun realiable boat. Thats very economical to run and in fantastic shape. I have looked at boats 5 yrs newer and 80k in horriable shape. I have a 99 baja boss 272 454 mag great colors low hrs. I have done a ton of research and everything out there that is similar is more expensive and or in horriable shape. I keep my boat in great shape mechanicaly and physically. Maybe i'm a bit high at 28500, but WTF i see early 90's boats selling for 20k?? What gives...

To all those dealers out there that dont ever bothering answering emails, what goes around comes around! You wont be in bussiness long...

P.S if you list your boat for sale on the internet and some one calls you or emails you for more info and you dont bother to answer them, why even take the time to list your boat???
I hear your pain. I went through a divorce four years ago and had to sell the boat and house as a result. The amount of money I had in both vs. what I sold them for was flat out depressing. We're in a financial depression. I must say though the boat dealer and house realtor both guided me with what the market would pay for each. Without them they would both still be for sale. The good news is if you're buying another that seller will be forced to give you a smoking deal as well.

Don't get me started on this... Last summer I fell in love with a 42 fountain, was having lunch at the Marina where it was for sale. Made an appt. with sales to come back to lake on Tuesday to look at it as the salesman I knew wasn't in. After getting all the money sorted at my bank, I got there and the boat wasn't in water to test. We chatted for a bit and I got the feeling he thought I was wasting his time,( a good salesman would have had this in the water to test drive).Made another appt. to come back Friday. This time I went in my boat but he was too busy messing with a band that was playing to give me the time of day, other than saying "Yeah, your boat is worth 25" (Fountain still wasn't in water). When I left there this time, I was too pissed to ever consider a boat from Uglys again. A year later, he still has the Fountain, and I still have mine, that is paid for.

And the kicker is that the 42'er probably depreciated ten times more than your ride in a year
Big $ boats take a big hit every year. It probably lost more $ in a year than he offered u for your for your trade.

I would meet someone if they were serious.. I was looking to trade and purchase a new boat.. They are not willing to move off the price they have listed This is why i'm getting so frustrated..

A friend decided to sell his boat to a dealer just to get out of it for many reasons. He finally took 14k and had to add 1k to pay the loan off. This is the end of April this year. We checked the dealers inventory frequently the boat shows up the end of May for 29k. They are in the business to make money.
