I looked at trading my boat in to get something with more power vs repowering it & talked with Pier 57 as they are buying boats. I believe they were pretty up front to tell me what they would give & why the amount they decided on. I realize they are in business to make money but some dealers want to make a killing on every sale. I didn't feel that from them but decided to repower because I own the boat & am familiar with it's little quirks. Had I decided to trade they would have been a serious contender for my business. Performance Marine @ LOTO would have been there also. Randy BTW I sold a 99 Baja H2X a few yrs ago for23,000 so I don't think the OPs price is out of range.

Make a deal with Richard Rawlings, he will have his guys put airbags and big rims on the trailer, Asianize the interior and make a few grand you can split.... :party-smiley-004:

I tell you what! Some dealers out there are insane with what they want to give you for trade and what they want for the boats they have!! I have never in my life had such a hard time selling something as i have with this boat! IT seems like boats are selling, but only if you give them away! I cant belive that no one out there wants a great, fun realiable boat. Thats very economical to run and in fantastic shape. I have looked at boats 5 yrs newer and 80k in horriable shape. I have a 99 baja boss 272 454 mag great colors low hrs. I have done a ton of research and everything out there that is similar is more expensive and or in horriable shape. I keep my boat in great shape mechanicaly and physically. Maybe i'm a bit high at 28500, but WTF i see early 90's boats selling for 20k?? What gives...

I'm confused. Are you trying to sell your boat or have a dealer take? I looked for a '99 272 in the OSO classifieds and none are for sale.. You just listed it in Powerboatlistings.com yesterday. How many dealers have you gone to?

People say "A boat is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.." In today's market, it's more like: "A boat is worth what someone can finance it for..." AND a 15 year old Baja is low on that list. It is what it is man.

There are a hundred boat listing sites. Many are free. Here's a great start: http://bajaboatowners.com/forum.php

Going to a dealer with a 15 year old boat, while EASY, is a poor business model - one that will not give you the return YOU DESERVE. Selling a boat - getting your money back - takes work.

I had it on here most of the summer.. Just moved it to power boat listings recently..Been to half dozen dealers or so... hawkeye and GSC were the most reasonable so far... but we just couldn't come to a deal on what they had... I'm trying to sell outright or trade in at a dealer if they have something I want..

Quick nada search on a 99 baja 272 nets the boats value at $17-20000. Most people will not pay more than nada for a boat. Never get financed for more. Might be able to add a few options and raise it to $22-23000 but it most likely will not sell $8-10000 above nada. Same with a guy who posted in formula section. Gotta price according to value especially when financing is involved.

Big $ boats take a big hit every year. It probably lost more $ in a year than he offered u for your for your trade.

We never got to money, he couldn't be bothered.. But now, the same boat is 25 cheaper, about what I would have wanted out of mine... At the end of the day, he did me a favor, paid for 27 or financed 42... No one has more fun at the lake than I do!! LOL!
