Nordic vs. Pantera

Nordic Heat vs. Pantera 28. Salt water only. Both with 525 Merc single. What would you guys pick and why?

POWERPLAY J 08-18-2013 06:25 PM

Pantera was made for an ocean beating. Most of the west coast boats are built to run rivers or lakes. Looks wise the Pantera is tough. The Nordics are a lil cheesy...

Take both for a ride.

Indy 08-18-2013 07:56 PM

What do you want to know? Owned a 28 Heat in salt water, been on the Panteras quite a few times. Your question is vague.

Ride? Pantera...but it has no freeboard. Tooling? Nordic, not even close. Speed? Meh...neither impresses. Looks? To each their own. Cabin? Nordic. Looking for something specific?

Couginitnordic 08-18-2013 11:22 PM

Speed Nordic. Efficiency Nordic. Nordic has nice lines that look like they have been shaped in a wind tunnel. Pantera old school looking. Both totally different looks. Ride probably close. Finish, materials, and cabin no comparison Nordic. Old vs New etc.

Griff 08-19-2013 12:36 AM

Pantera will ride much better, more solid and better rigging.
Nordic will be faster.

Myrick24 08-19-2013 03:46 AM

Nordic Nordic i like it!http://elise.tjginsurance.com/6.jpghttp://elise.tjginsurance.com/12.jpghttp://elise.tjginsurance.com/13.jpg

The Nordic is way better in build and rigging. The Pantera will most likely be a little better in rough. However the Nordic will be faster.

I'd say it's quite a bit better, don't forget the Nordic has a pad, a swim platform, and a shallow entry angle. The Pantera is all hull.

The Nordic has side saddle tanks too, nothing I'd ever get again for rough water.

Where's the OP? Are these used boats? What body of water? What's the main use?

One thing's for sure, don't get the Nordic trailer, it's junk for salt water. Three dunks and you'll have 1000lbs of rust.

If I had it to do over again I'd not get the Nordic for my waters. Beautiful boat but better for its original intended purpose.

Here. New boat. Pacific Ocean. Goin' fast/stayin' alive. Thanks for the advice on the trailer. Good to know. Wondering if Pantera will powdercoat a matching trailer for me? Jo contacted me via email so I think I'm good to go now. Should be getting a Pantera 28 with 525 Merc or maybe have him build me a new motor for less money. I've seen a lot of Pantera boats with non merc racing engines so I'm guessing the Merc blue motors are more expensive than getting a motor built.

Pete280 08-19-2013 07:15 PM

My firnd had a 2000 Heat, I think it was about 74 with a 500 EFI, We ran the boat in some prety snotty waters at the mouth of the Chesapeake and Ocean, The Heat handled it pretty good overall,(it had no tabs) and he would run the piss out of it, but IMO they are not built to handle really water. He had to rebuild his back seat because it broke in half (wood), I think it had a carpeted wood foor and it just seemed like stuff was coming apart. The cabin is huge at the expense of the the cockpit.

Never been on a Pantera but if your talking new dont pay for the boat until you have possesion!

Tim G. 08-19-2013 07:17 PM

I had a 28 Pantera with twin 502 Mags... That was a very tough little boat. There will be others with a faster top end, but the boat ran surprisingly well in the rough. Jo and Pepe were always good to me after the sale. My boat was used but I bought it directly from them.

They could build you a custom 28' powerboat with any power you want. Just sayin'...

You should spend some time researching both companies on here. There is one that I would never do business with directly. Not to say I wouldn't own one as they are both good boats.

Or you could read this thread ................... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/b...k-peak-64.html

Does this mean Berk will finally get his boat? That's how this game is played isn't it?

As they say......a sucker is born every minute!

If NEW, Without even comparing boats, I'd just rule out the Pantera. You could ask any number of people why that might be. You might never see the Pantera, you' might need a lawyer, you might have spent XXX$$$ and have nothing more than a thread that gets deleted.

I'd actually pick a new Bayliner over a Pantera, because at least I'd have a boat. Maybe that's just me, and the people that are in an unfortunate situation now. Do you care about your money? Do you want to be in a boat inside of 2-4 years?

If your buying the boat with the intent of using it in the ocean on a regular basis. I would recommend an aluminum trailer instead of steel. I will last much longer and look better doing it.

Darrell.

Griff 08-20-2013 12:26 AM

Pantera can't powdercoat anything themselves. That would be something they would sub out.

Pantera does not build engines.

Do your research and realize what you are getting into if you order new from Pantera.

BTW, I owned a 28 Pantera and it was great boat. I bought it used.

Interceptor 08-20-2013 01:29 PM

https://www2.miami-dadeclerk.com/pub...ds/Search.aspx

Go to the site above and enter Pantera, Pantera boats, Pantera Powerboats, Pantera USA etc. in the search box. You should decide to buy used afterwards.

Woh guys. Come on. I'm a NOOB. You guys are throwing things way over my head. What's the deal with Pantera? I'm sensing there was some shady stuff that went on. Just shoot me straight. What happened? Never understood the secrecy surrounding these types of things. I'm not a professional researcher. This is my research. Asking people who know more than I do. Help me out.

BajaFresh 08-20-2013 01:43 PM

Neither!

Where are you located?

I do pretty much all my boating in the Pacific along with a bunch of other guys. I'd go out a lot by myself so twin engines was mandatory for me.

The Pacific can get rough, get as much boat as you can. I'd for a used Gun or similar wave crusher over a smaller new boat. So many great deals out there now on used stuff.

Griff 08-20-2013 01:45 PM

Plain and simple

Pantera has numerous judgements against them for various lawsuits. Some of those judgements are for boats that were paid for and never delivered.
