Pumps are not electronic the racks or steering columns are where the power assist comes from.

Electric fork trucks us the same steering type as a marine helm with an electric PS pump.

[QUOTE=LAriverratt;3985577]I'm interested in what you have. I see that Latham offers it.

LA, I use a Verado pump with a CharLynn helm valve on my 28 Skater. Works great. Paul Everett at Zeiger set me up with the components. Check out "My New 28 Skater" thread in Skater BS.

Go with the Mercury Verado Electric steering pump. I rigged my 32 Activator single 1100/SSM6. Worked very nice! Here it is on front of the center bulkhead.

Thanks, rob
Lets see the front of your engine. A picture. My choice would be no electric on steering. On a performance boat.

yup, been there!

A boat behaves the same way a car behaves if no power steering. Its harder to turn the wheel but its not impossible! My worst experience was when I was on a river with a tide, trying to dock with one engine, no power steering and the tide wanting to pull you away from the dock! That sucked!
