Alpine is out of the marine head unit market. I would have to say Rockford has the best marine unit right now.

Speakers there are many brands out there that do a good job. Personally for the money I like the Alpine. JL way to much money for what they are.

You want good sound, setup is more important than anything. Ask anyone who has heard my system. I'm using what some would call cheap no good speakers. My system rocks and it's only 3 pairs of 6.5" components and three subs with 209 watts.

Amplifiers - again several good brands for the money I like Alpine.

You can certainly get more for your money and better sound if you don't Have to have marine stuff.

Don't skimp on the bass. A good sounding system has bass.

Clarion CMV-1 for sure paired to Focal speakers. JL digital Amps and Subs as nothing in the marine market has great subs yet but the JL M10W-5 is about as good as available. The JL M880 sounds pretty good for a coaxial speaker and it's huge!

The main thing is don't forget about Polk and Focal as they have rubber surrounds but don't say marine but they are very durable and sound much better than most marine speakers.
