Another (very well documented) case of somebody either not knowing or forgetting that a boat steers by the stern like a fork truck and not by the bow like a car. The officer driving the boat should be both ashamed and slapped severely for his incredibly poor choice here. I don't care how serious the call is, nobody else's life should ever be put at risk - as it was here.

One of the other links above, the guy says he borrowed the boat. How would you like to make that call to the owner.

News Flash: This just in. The Washington DC Police Department has released the results of their preliminary investigation into this incident. According to a prepared statement, “The very same wave that caused My Way to crash in the Thousand Islands last year is believed to be the cause of this crash. The wave suddenly pushed the police boat sideways to port causing it to impact the docked vessel.” An All Points Bulletin has been issued for its capture and arrest.

And for those of you that think I’m kidding, just wait a few months for the official investigation to be concluded. I highly doubt the department will pay any money to the boat owner.

Now what did they say in my training class. . . Oh yes, 1- hit siren, 2-jam throttles, 3-check heading.

4- Hit boat tied up to dock, 5- look to see if anyone witnessed, 6-$hit pants, 7- blame someone else or claim "WP Emergency"

I'm sorry if it was my boat and the guy called me to tell me a WP sunk it while moored at a dock with video - I would have to try pretty d&mn hard to stop laughing as I called my lawyer on a Saturday evening

Don't worry, he is not on a boat anymore, he is now probably driving a car with blinky lights and a siren, not to mention at a high rate of speed too. Now isn't that comforting....
