I laughed out loud at that last line. I think the sediment that a lot of us share is this; A lot of us have done stupid $hit while showing off or messing around. It sounds like that is exactly what he did. Except he is an LEO. On the clock! Sworn to serve and PROTECT. Under no circumstances ever should he ever be showing off. When we show off, we look cool when we succeed and stupid when we mess up, but we have no moral obligation to not even take the chance.

In another interview with a local, he said that he cops always haul out of there, suggesting that they, the police dont want to be late due to the inconvenient no wake speed which they must be exempt from.
