My insurance carrier is informed about this and checking it out for me.
I was thinking $3K + damages or deductible, but $5K sounds sweet. If anyone's ever rented a boat to a studio for the day or something, what'd you get? Chevy was doing a photoshoot for their marketing years ago and wanted a boat to take a picture with the truck. A friend of mine contacted me about it, we figured out the deal and had another friend take it to the location for the shoot. It was only on the trailer and was back the same afternoon. I think it was something like $2500 for the day. I took $1000 and I gave him $1500. It might have been more but that was at least 9 years ago. |

#1. Your carrier can provide you with a ryder for the period of time they intend to use the boat (bare boat coverage)
#2. It is a felony to operate a vessel for hire without a TWIC and minimum O.U.P.V. Plus, your boat can be confiscated. This is federal, not state or local. There is absolutely NO way around that. #3. I offer my services to my clients at 100 per hour on water, 65 driving or waiting (sleep away from home) and 150 after dark. Always, additional ins premiums.....fuel......pre-and post cleaning.....incidental and actual damage as well as a deposit equal to my deductible. As far as your situation.... Consider the value of your boat and it's expected life. Divide cost by life (in hours) and use that unit of measure to multiply their indebtedness to you along with the "you" fees. |
Are they planning a hit and need to make it out to international waters to drop off a "package".... Did they ask if there was room in the cuddy for about 60 2 kilo errr...... shoebox size boxes?
|
Yes. Why? They said it's "test" equipment. lol

My boat was in the Geico Christopher Columbus ad (Pinta). I got paid $5000 plus fuel for the day. The boat was run by a top notch driver with decades of experience. I was also told they would pay for any damage incurred. We also spent the day watching them film the commercial.
It was a good deal right.... well, the following week, I launched the boat (first time after the shoot) and as soon as I put it in gear, the port drive went boom. Blew the lower. Then I had shifting issues with the other... Ended up doing both lowers and new cables (cost $5000+). Top it all off with a tax form that I had to pay taxes on the $5k! Moral of the story, it costs a lot of money to run and maintain these boats, don't be afraid to ask for a solid price to cover your assets. Would I do it again, probably not..... unless I got a lot more money! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raPLzhzxAeU |
