Chief Powerboats Forum
OSO
Alright, let me give this a shot, and ask straight up. I certainly don't know the proper channels or who to ask about getting Chief Powerboats their own forum. That's what I'm asking OSO to do for them. They are building some powerboats and giving a good account of themselves on the racecourse. I, for one think they deserve it. Hope you feel likewise. Thanks Ed |
I'd like to see what Bobby is doing and keeping up with him as well.

they have to win a race first Ed! jk

Looks like it is flying along in that one pic! Might be a great setup with those Arneson drives. Any video? |

Actually, these guys that run overseas are pureist in my opinion. They're actually running in rough water and not in circles in calm water. ;) |

Pretty sure most of sbi races are in open water. Some calm some rough.

Here's some telemetry from the Gurnsey race that Chief won, I thought it was pretty interesting. The image below shows the data taken from Cinzano from Poole to the Channel Islands (it's safe to assume that all the other boats experienced similar impacts). The readings are peak vertical g's, sampled every second (after 300 hz filter to remove noise and non-structural vibration).
Green is 0 to 4.999g Yellow is 5 to 9.999g Red is 10 to 16g (16g is the max level the device can record) |
thats why they call it offshore

I moved to Pewaukee about a year ago and one day I was driving down some random road in Brookfield/Elm Grove and looked over and saw what has to be your boat in the driveway. I or 2 houses off of the main east west road I was on. I was like wow you don't see a 36 Apache every day. And I knew you were probably a member but have never seen you post. You have a good looking boat. |

Quick update... I was perusing one of the "other sites" yesterday and noticed they've added a Chief section. After further investigation I learned that the "other site" approached Chief about adding a section for them instead of Chief having to approach the site about it.
Just an FYI OSO.... |
I don't understand what the criteria are for adding a brand to the site. Is there a list of requirements the brand has to accomplish, build a minimum # of boats, is it a popularity contest requiring a certain # of votes, is it a moderators discretion or an administrators? Does money have to change hands in the form of fees levied against the brand? I know Statement was able to eventually get in, what did it take, I wonder?
|
OSO is not really about us anymore, its a FOR PROFIT business, just like politics. Money and politics control OSO. Just the way of the world. Chief would have to play dirty, pad some pockets, get on their knees, and pull some strings to get a section. :party-smiley-004:

If that's the case, how can you have manufacturer sections then that are still there where those manufacturers never lined any pockets, got on their knees or played politics? Some of those sections haven't been posted in a very long time either. I can see the money part, we all earn a living and some own businesses but why not make the rules the same for everyone? What's unfortunate in my mind is that they had a section once before and because they stopped building boats for a few years (company never shut down), OSO arbitrarily deleted their section. Perhaps that action was politically motivated? I dunno what the real deal is...I'm just thinking out loud. Also, the First Mohican has a new owner, it recently sold. Warpath has an owner and the new boat being built has an owner. There are also other things in play at Chief. It's really unfortunate in my opinion. |
I don't think its so much a profit thing....
IB (owns oso) is huge and has tons of forums. So its like trying to get a particular item stocked at your local walmart, or something added to the menu of your favorite mcdonalds. Do you really think corporate McDonalds really cares or even notices that a couple customers at one of their stores wants hot dogs added to the menu?? |
Its not nearly as hard to add a chief section as it is to add hotdogs to Mc Ds. I understand what you were trying to get at but do not agree. OSO has professionals that are good at what they do. Its not rocket science for these professionals to add a chief section.
Another thing I do NOT agree with is the sections like Cobra Power? Why does an ENGINE manufacture need a section in the BOAT manufactures area? Politics............... I guess we will just have to start a few hundred different threads all over OSO in multiple different sections until they decide to give us WHAT WE WANT. OH Yeah, if it wasn't for US there would be NO PROFIT and NO OSO |
Patience all--- I'll see what I can do.

I recently insured 2 of them.
|
Its not that difficult, I just created a brand new forum and made a chief section in under 3 minutes...with an existing forum it should take under 30 seconds to make a Chief section....

Is Sunkin involved at all?
|
He should be joining at any time, afterall he owns 6 of them.....

He might as well. Nobody else seems to be doing anything.
BTW the boat is built in the exact same building by the exact same crew that builds the ATs.

 I just don't get what the challenge is? Is Chief not worthy in some way? Maybe you could help me understand why it is so difficult for this to happen? I'm guessing a few others would like to know also? |
