i have a 67 pro touring camaro im building, 540 800hp pump gas eng with t56 6spd, dse full chassis kit, the problem is what transmission are you gonna run behind a beast like that? automatics suck in a pro t car, but that is about all that is available when you go much over 1000 ponies....

That's so cool! Looks strange without the polished cmi's. You should have ran some up headers right out the hood

My twin turbo ls camaro made over 1000 HP to the wheels and cost about 20k to build the set up.

Tell ya what though, i always thought it would be cool to have a 525EFI in an old Camaro (70 to 73) with all Livorsi gauges and just a general marine spin on things, not overkill but just a tastefull amount of the hardware we use. About ten years ago there was a guy on here that did i think a 69 Camaro with an EFI and it was pretty bad ass. I suppose if i had Bill Gates kinda money then i would probably have a Merc 1350 in something just because

My last Camaro i retro'd in the drive train out of a 91 Iroc and this car killed me for carbs. I dont know why anyone would run a carb on any street rod, FI is wayyyy easier to work on and runs farrrr better. It floors me when i see some of these high dollar pro touring cars cross the block at Barret Jackson or ??? and they have carburetors on them you might as well put wood spoke wheel on them and a hand crank start sticking out from under the grill .I am in the process of doing a 71 TA for myself and it will be something fuel injected for sure, this one will be a keeper.

I dont know if a lot of people realize this but the Merc EFI was originally developed by ASM (arizona speed & marine) for street rods and was quickly snapped and developed for OEM. I dont know any of the details but i was building pro street rides back in the early 90's when this system came out then kinda disappeared, couple years later Merc introduced the 500EFI. LightningJet on here actually has three of the test engines that have the ASM logo on them.
Hay if someone has the money and the ambition than by all means do a mercury racing inspired car.....How about a pro-touring 1967 mercury comet with a merc 1350. My hat is off to anyone with the ambition to think outside of the box and build something unique!!!!

I had a 2003 mustang cobra that made 1100 rwhp 1200rwtq on pump gas with stock block and all stock internals with the exception of cams. Upgraded supercharger, fuel system, exhaust, methanol injection kit and a little nitros to top it off. Stock trans, rear end and was completely turn key everyday drivable. Cost me about $17,000 on top of car of course. Owned it for 8 years and put 15,000 trouble free miles. Fun car!

Nelson built me a motor a few years back (BBC w/N2O - about 850HP +/-) and I was extremely happy with it. Lasted for years afterwards. Although I know I lost some power and dependability (vs FI), I'm old school in that I like dual quads on a high rise manifold.

Bunch of guys have some car themed boats. So maybe a boat themed car? LoL

Btw I am not a fan of either idea. I am making fun.

Great idea but you would need a realy realy long hose to feed the super chiller and the big honking exhaust would be a ***** to route through the car .

im running 1050 on my 540 bbc 800hp pump gas eng in my 67 pro touring camaro... i bought an unclaimed engine from shafiroff racing with all the best parts not the scat crap, for 13k... it was thinking about efi for it but i would cost 5 k and make a few less hp but more tq in the mid range... i have better things to spend 5k on, but the major factor is im in a third world country and no one to go to if i had any issues tuning it and sorting it out......rm

I am also doing a 2nd gen 1974 TA, I built a 600 hp 462 Pontiac for it with KRE cnc heads, roller cam and a MEFI4 4 ecu / harness. The motor has been tuned and dynoed ready to drop in the car, trans is done and car has nice paint, body and interior. All I really need to do to finish it is pull the old drivetrain, install the new motor /trans,plumb and wire the efi and get it on the road. The problem is tying up my main shop for a week or 2 without interfering with getting paying work done!!!
