I know this boat gets a bad rap for how heavy it is but ... I am a die hard fan. Throw a pair of diesels in it and you have a cruiser with class minus the speed. 55-65mph in this boat would suit me fine.

You either love or hate em! For those that love em, post your favorite pics, running are great, stills? whatever if you have a pic of an aronow 39 post it here!! :)

i here ya JGB . .actually i'm a fan of all the big wave crushers of the 70's and 80's . my all time favorite being the 27 sport magnum. i did a thread a few months back and got a bunch of great pics sent to me by several members. i this one it is really obvious that they split a cig right down the middle and added a tunnel. i will see if i can find the thread and link it here.

mika 08-06-2002 12:39 AM

I just heard the other day that someone up the road from me just bought one of these monsters. I'll see if I can get a picture.

JGB 08-06-2002 12:54 AM

Hi glassdave, i remember that thread, i sent you all the pics i had on the 39. i no longer have them cause i switched computers and didn't back them up on disk. But i did find the one i posted. If you could return some of the photos i sent you via email so i can rebuild the collection. I'd be much obliged. thanks bro!

JGB 08-06-2002 12:54 AM

JGB 08-06-2002 01:26 AM

James,
I think I may be the guy up the road that mika was talking about. I just bought a USA 39 kevlar hulled "Competition Cat" out of the great northwest. It's safely back in Minnesota for a little TLC and then off to the poker runs.

I don't have any good pics of it yet, but here she is on Ye Ole trailer. If the picture doesn't go through I plead ignorance, as I'm a rookie in the forums.

I would really appreciate if you, or anyone else for that matter, has a good closeup picture of the USA Racing Team logo. I'll be needing one when the paint is done.

Todd

Steve 1 08-16-2002 07:03 PM

Dave you are Right ,They cut a Cigarette to make the 39 lets see who knows which one it was ?? Clue it was the first pull from the Mold ,Which became real famous.:) like the second Boat.:)

mika 08-16-2002 11:16 PM

Dejavodoo,
Are you the parkside guy? A friend of mine was telling me about your boat a few weeks ago and I've came through the marina a few times since and no cat:confused: Where are you hiding that thing.:)

glassdave 08-17-2002 12:15 AM

hmmm . . well steve . . .this is purely a guess but was it this one  . . .an give us the mold story too  . . .or any other cool boat story you care to throw in the mix

JGB, did i remember to send you the pics you asked for earlier in this thread. let me know an they will bwe on there way.

sean- i have a file with a bunch of mag pics i have collected through my travels on the web . i can send the whole thing if you want. they are all classic aronow era stuff, you can pick an chose what you want as some of them came from your site.

DeJaVooDoo- cool boat. what ya got for power.
  i may have a logo some where, i will look and post it if i can.

Steve 1 08-17-2002 12:45 AM

The story goes as follows Mr. Don Aronow the Master Business man he was!
Made one pull for the 39 Cat Project! Having no further use for the mold he sold it;
A second Boat was Built out of it ,That was the Famous Warpath! And the rest is History! That’s the story as I heard it!
That is the reason the Two Boats are close Cousins !
:)

DeJaVooDoo 08-17-2002 01:33 PM

Mika, Yep, I'm the Parkside guy. I have the boat in a shop near Rochester. I hope to have it on the water next spring for our Rat Ralley. If you get up to Parkside stop by and have a cold one. Just look for the Meteor 5000 "Dejavoodoo" and you found me.

Glassdave, The boat came with a couple original 440 cyclones (one of which whas "Vented" if you know what I mean). I'm working on a pair of 510 C.I. twin turbo EFI motors. I'm not making any claims of horsepower yet, the dyno will have to tell the story.

I'll look forward to any logo pics you could post.

Sean 08-18-2002 08:38 AM

Dave,

Send em to [email protected] !

JGB 01-05-2003 08:41 PM

Steve, never heard that before but that's pretty cool! Thanks, any other stories you have regarding the aronow cats? they made a 27 cat also(split V) any info on them?

Glassdave, shoot those pics whenever your ready. [email protected]. thanks bro!

dejavoodo, hope you got those emails were helpful enough. You know who could help you? the guy that sold you the boat. when i talked to him in ajn/feb of 02 he sent me a package of info on the boat including the original purchase contract. that contract has the logo on it. i don't know if you can still get ahold of te previous owner. HE had moved from washington/oregon? to south florida. sorry but i don't remember his name.

James, Thanks for the USA Racing Team logo pics but I have some like that now. I did get the all the paperwork with the boat and there's one with it. What I'm really looking for is a good close up of the real deal on the side of someones boat. One with the colors and all, that I can give to a painter or vinyl shop to duplicate.

Bruce and Caincando1, have I met either of you guys? I'm a 12 year member of the he man woman haters rat rally event! (Easy girls, we don't really hate women). Stop by and say hi some time. It's looking like we will be taking the VooDoo one more year, but we will be sportin new paint this year.

As for the "Catsass", one more summer in the shop should have it ready to go. I've been working on it every weekend but there's just alot to do. The new bolster and the fairing plug are just about done and some new hatches are next. I'll post some pics when there is something to look at.

Todd,
I'd like to stop by some weekend and see the cat. Are you working on it at Parkside? Let me know when you are there and I'll bring some beer to delay the project even more! :D

We're 7 year members, and there are about 8 of us that boat out of Great River Harbor. I have seen the VooDoo on the water, but no, we haven't met. Last years Rat Rally was the first in the 28 Pantera....the others were in a Baja 240 Sport.

Who is doing the plugs for the bolsters and fairing? I'd also like to stop by and see the boat!

We are organizing the 1st Annual Liquid Jungle Poker Run (sponsered by the American Cancer Association) to be held in August. It should be a hell of a run on the river! It would be AWESOME to have CatsAss on that run! I can help in any way to get that girl out of the shop faster!

Has anyone seen the movie "Thunder Boat Row"??? I believe the blue and white us customs boat in the photo posted by searace was in the movie. The one in the movie has a radar arch though? I recorded the movie off of tv about 10 years ago, and have been looking for a "real" copy ever since. There are some pretty cool boats.

DejaVooDoo,
I don't know that we've met. But I bet you are in one of these pics of the RatRun from last year. I'd love to stop by and see the big cat also that has to be a great piece of history.

Brian

Horseplay 01-07-2003 01:51 PM

You know people, there is one guy who could probably tell you a lot about the Aronow cats, especially since he supposedly had an interest in them. Why don't you write to:
Mr. Benjamin Kramer
Terre Haute USP
Hwy. 63 South
Terre Haute, IN 47808

Caincando1 01-07-2003 03:01 PM

:D :D :D Gee what do you supose the USP stands for? I don't think you'd get much positive feedback from him.:D :D :D

Wow, with all those offers I'll have her done in no time. PM me and I'll give you my e-mail and mobil number. The boat is still up at a friend of mine's house near Rochester (1/2 way to Oronoco). I'm usually there every Sat & Sun. I'm planning on keeping it there until it's ready, provided he doesn't get sick of me clogging up his shop.

Brian, I feel like a celebrity now! I'm the fat guy in the green jacket. (Don't be spreading any vicious rumors about me now, I assure you those are deck shoes).

Here is a before and Aft.., No a before and during pic. My right bicep is twice the size of my left from all the sanding.

Todd

Thirsty Turtle 01-07-2003 11:03 PM

Shoes are forgiven.......it 's COLD on some of those Rat Runs!

You're not wasting any time on the boat, there's some big changes happening. Are the engines at the shop?

We're heading to Sumner, IA this weekend to visit Profile. He's got a V and a cat in the molds. We've never seen one in the mold, so it'll be a new wrinkle in the brain.:D :D :D

We'll hook up....we're south of Cannon Falls about 30 min. from your boat.

Bruce

Caincando1 01-08-2003 10:15 AM

I thought he was in Illinois
Not sure but either way I'm sure he'd find no enjoyment from being asked about his past buisness ventures.;)

Deja,
I was cold as hell that day I had on three pairs of socks to make up for not wearing shoes.:D I live in Mantorville and another OSO memeber lives in Rochester. So we will all have to hook up and see the boat. So can you put all the rumors to bed and tell us what 50 Scarab has for motors. I've heard everything form 300's to 500's.

TT,
I'm stoked for out trip to the Profile factory too!

DeJaVooDoo 01-09-2003 12:34 AM

Cain,
Nothin fancy in the VooDoo, just 3 good old 420 TRSs. Oh! and a 6.5 Onan, an air conditioner, a microwave, 2 TVs, a VCR, a shower, --- Ahh forget it.

After 6 seasons with not a lick of trouble I can't bring myself to dig in and mess them up now. I'll leave that for the next owner! (Dear OSO staff, please do not consider the previous statement a classified add)

Have fun in Ioway.
