Looking for a twin engine 29 to 34 feet boat

Help needed from the most knowledgeable offshore boating community on line period.

A close friend of mine is looking for a nice boat preferably a Formula,Baja,Fountain, not older than 89 with bravo drives and trailer.
Budget is set at around $24k ,seller must allow full survey including sea trial (i know not much time left for sea trial up north. )and compression test, I have a couple of friends here like Lil' red and Sprink58 helping with their experience.

If anybody comes across something similar please let us know since my friend is serious about buying ( cash ready).
We had a seatrial on a nice 336 sr1 that fitted criteria seller said it was running good 3 weeks ago but when it was put on the water it wouldn't move and needed engines replaced (according to very reputable surveyor)

Thanks in advance for your help.Hoping to hear from you all .

Nightlife1970 09-29-2013 12:40 PM

There's an 89 formula 311 on the FB powerboat swap shop with pretty new 502 550hp motors boat looks super clean he is asking 22,000 and has a trailer. His contact info is on the FB page but I don't feel comfortable putting his info out on a public forum pm me and I will give it to you if you're interested.

Nice looking boat

Buddy is selling this on CL in Portland Oregon. It's a good boat only a bit far from your location. >

***30' Regal Velocity***
1989, 30' Regal Velocity, Twin Mercruiser 454 Mag (365hp), Bravo 1 drives, 4 blade props, Drew steering stabilizers. New Teleflex gauges with GPS Speedo. K-Planes with indicators. Full cockpit cover and full boat cover included. Tripple axle aluminum trailer with fairly new tires. Great running boat, just don't use much anymore and would like to find it a good home. Boat cruises nice at 45-50mph (3000-3400rpm) and tops out full of fuel at 70ish. Great rough water boat and gets lots of compliments when out. I had boat listed at $24,000, but will look at all offers. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I really like the 29' Baja Outlaw...But I think you'll be super hard pressed to find one at that price.

Diego9040 09-29-2013 06:50 PM

What would be a decent offer to make without getting the tag of "low baller" is 25% below asking price ok ?

Tinkerer 09-29-2013 07:21 PM

Might He be interested in a project.
My 1992 34 SCARAB needs two engines and drives.
It needs a new cabin floor because I was stupid enough to put rubber back carpet in many years ago.
But the interior is in great condition.
The boat needs some work but the price is right.

Crude Intentions 09-29-2013 08:07 PM

Pm him for complete price. Seems like a nice boat and many have commented it is. Boat is still together

292, http://syracuse.craigslist.org/bod/4098535554.html
272, http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/boa/4046899813.html

Also just saw a decent 303, just gotta find it again

dereknkathy 09-30-2013 08:37 PM

if the 336 in first post was that nice, sometimes bad motors can be a good thing. take price of engines off sale price, (he still has to sell it) and you get new motors instead of motors that are god-knows-how-long from needing replaced.

sprink58 09-30-2013 09:20 PM

I really like the 292

http://syracuse.craigslist.org/bod/4098535554.html

Very easy to handle...don't have to have a locomotive to tow it.

Agree 100 % but he only came down $4000 after engines collapsed so after putting new long blocks in or even rebuilding salt water blocks (not a good idea) you will still end up at around $30k which is out of budget,

I still believe he can get a decent 336 with stock 502's with good compression and a trailer for around $25k, am I wrong?

dereknkathy 09-30-2013 10:39 PM

a couple of 311's on ebay for under 25, but looks like 336's people want 35 to 75. i could save you guys a little. 27 nova 3 i want 4k. or 1k no motors-drives-trailer...

Derek,

i had a nova 91 27' loved that boat light and fast lots of fun, sold it as project to a friend here in oso , now going back to the 336's everyone trying to sell a boat here knows one thing is 'asking' and another different story is 'getting' , even though i have noticed that boat market has improved in the last 2 years, if it is priced right it will sell ,if it doesn't sell could be not enough exposure (online) or price too high. No other way around.

dereknkathy 10-01-2013 09:38 AM

joking. obviously anybody with 20k plus don't want a worthless POS like this one. this is for a wannabe who only has 4k... yes the 35k boats will likely come down to his 25-ish number. the dreamer who wants 75? he will still have it in 5 years...

Diego9040 10-01-2013 12:18 PM
