Count me in! about 3 years to go. My southern California lungs won't know what to do with clean air! The plan is a canal home with 36-38 feet of fiberglass joy on a lift out back.

Congrats to all of you who had the courage to move!

I'm looking to get out of the Communist state of California at some point, looking at Florida as well. Just curious what made you pick the area you moved to over say the other coast or the Keys?

Biggest reason is cost. This is an inexpensive waterfront area

I haven't boated on that side yet. We always talk about it but never go. We've been boating in Miami and through out the Keys every year since 2005 and always say we should try the Gulf side and never go. We did hit Destin last year for the Cigarette rendezvous last year, that was cool, we had a good time.

Mike hit on one big reason, but there's several more for me., here's the stuff we wanted to have;

far enough South that it would stay warm all season (winter)

close to a descent size airport so we could fly home to St. Louis (Ft. Myers)

close to boating destinations and beaches, we can boat from Sarasota (North) to KW, about a 100 miles either way, doesn't get much better than that.

We love KW and it's cool, but it's to touristy for us and it's expensive to buy and live down there, that's pretty much it.
