Your 16, but you have a cafe racer?? Sounds like you're doing just fine and if you continue on that pace you'll be in a 55MTI Mega Cat before you get married.....

To answer your question though - my first performance boat was my cafe. Before that it was the Chesapeake bay saltwater staples - 13' whaler and Wellcraft V20!!

Yeah, a 55 MTI is definitely not out of the question. Thats only like 53 years of stocking Campbells soup on shelves

My first boat was a 1976 14' Lund with a 15hp Evinrude. The boat did 24mph I got to start somewhere. It was a fun boat. The first boat I drove by myself. Got rid of it and was boatless for 3 years. Last March I upgraded and got my current boat a 25' 2001 Baja Outlaw 25 does 70mph.

I thought for sure I wouldnt be the only one to start with a jeboat. My first boat in my name was a 20' Sleekcraft SST with a 427 chevy with a B&M blower and dual Predator carbs. What a POS! Thank god my boat buying senses have improved dramatically since then.

My first boat was a 1972 Wellcraft V20 with a 115 Merc. We upgraded the engine to a 175 Merc in 1987. I owned that boat until 2012 when it became my daughters boat. Last year, we had the boat check over and the engine serviced. The boat is in excellent shape and still is fun to use. It used on Lake Ontario, thhe Finger Lakes of NYS and in the 100 Islands. MY present boat, is a new used Fountain 8.8 meter Spitfire. It needs some TLC and hopefully will get looking a good as the Wellcraft.

Don't get like those "other guys"! Nick and his dad have about the tightest father son bond I've ever seen, especially for a teenager. The cafe is the family boat that they do everything they can to enjoy it with the family as often as possible. It's really awesome to see!

I had a couple 8' wooden pram rowboats, then got a 12' sears game fisher that was some sort of foam/plastic/fiberglass, and was HEAVY!!!! I got a strong back at a young age rowing that one! Finally dad got me a 3hp Johnson.
I must of burned 50 gallons of gas a summer with that thing! My cousins had a 10' Jon boat with a 2hp merc so while racing them up the river I found if I turn these screws on the carb the motor picked up power and took off! Dad just shook his head and wasn't surprised when I came back and said " I think we can find an old junk skiff or sailboat and rig the atomic 4 in here and go faster! I was 9......
So then he bought me a 13' whaler with a 30hp evinrude, and suddenly I was a race boat driver and tried running down every boat on the river, airing it out didn't scare me but every one of my fathers friends that went for a ride never wanted to get back in it. "Your kids nuts" was usually said as they climbed out and grabbed a beer.
Few years off went drag racing built and broke a lot of sh!t, bought a 19 caravelle because it was cheap, and it all went down hill from there!
It's amazing I haven't broken more stuff than I have!

1970's 17' Boston Whaler with a 90hp Evinrude. I used to tear up the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers in that thing. I remember being in the slop by the Highlands bridge and going over a huge sportfish wake and the steering wheel broke off. Had to use a wrench to steer all the way back to the Channel Club. Good times.
