I am from NY so excuse my ignorance on the subject, but how can the govt close down a bay? If it is part of a water way system, wouldn't it become maritime? And therefore be controlled more under the coast guard?

In line with this, phuck the bay shutdown. Make a stand. This coming weekend, make it a point to flood biscayne bay, stiltsville, beercan island and the surrounding areas all while flying a banner stating your intent.....oh....and make sure you let fox know what's up so they can nationalize your stance.

If it were here (gulf coast, Cape Coral/Sanibel/Captiva) I would do it in a second. This spend for misery(ours) shutdown is a pile-o-shiiiiiiit

The truck drivers strike was in 2008 during the last shutdown and it didn't amount to much. All the truck drivers I know do not have the time or money for that kind of vacation
